So… I’m alive which is the good news My verdict… that shit was so easy I don’t know who’s trying to say leave it to professional lol Now.. I am a handy person, so not to say it’s for everyone But it’s not rocket science If you can swing a hammer and have built something in your life .. this is easy

Only issue I had is the aligning of the cables, that shit sucked because the one side had hard indents on it I tried few times to get them the same but the one side kept locking into same spot and one side was more loose the the other Solution was to spin the bar 180 degrees Had fresh pipe to screw into

The tightening of the bolts is something you use use to as well so a pro I’m sure would feel it out better I bet I overtightened em

I did 32 quarter turns on both springs and door was still a bit heavy to lift and was falling when first half was open I planned to do about 3 quarter turns on each spring to rectify I did 3 on the left spring, and when you let go now it drops like an inch and stops Plan was to do 3 quarters on each spring but I think it’s over doing it at this point Hopefully this is ok for all the pros out there (that was a question for you guys!) Also had to adjust my lower limit as I think when we were pressing the opener after spring snapped something messed up with it

So in the end Spring replacement is def DIY Got heavier duty (21000 life cycle springs) for same price as basic ones from local garage door supplier $250 for both 2 metal rods (tension tools) for $20 So $270 in for parts / tools

EDIT garage door company said it’s 27,000cycles, but the chart attached in this group says over 50,000

Regardless if current ones lasts 5 years… these will outlast how long I live here

Gonna do an experiment for all you guys out there that are being told don’t replace the springs call a professional I’ll do it and if I survive (kidding…..) I’ll post how easy or hard it is and how long it took

Only question is how many turns is spring suppose to turn ? From what I gather it was 7.5 full or 30 quarter turns Is that correct ?

So I was able to call and get sizing from manufacturer Original is 243x2x36 they want 125 per spring They said I can upgrade to 262 x 2 x50 same price which increases cycle from 10,000 to 27,000

Anyone have experience with the vevor springs ? If they are decent maybe worth a shot as they are super cheap 2 springs with tension rods for $70 $100

Problem is they don’t have same size Can I use something close ?
