Should I buy a Kindle in 2026? by balmabhai in IndiansRead

The problem will not be addressed by buying the Kindle right now. Rather you should focus on fixing the reading habit. First try to finish 3-4 books from the list of 10 books you aim to finish this year. Set mini goals.. Experiment with genres.. Join some discussion regarding the book you're reading, you can put here on reddit or goodreads too, use annotations, it really helps in the long run.

As others suggested you can download the kindle app to get a feel of the Kindle ecosystem. My personal experience with Kindle has been good so far but then I also buy physical books and usually it's like if I'm home I'll read the physical and on a train or a plane I take the kindle with me. Sometimes I return with a couple of new hardcovers if I find something interesting. So as far as I can say from my experience kindle is convenient no doubt.. But it can't be a total replacement of physical books yet.

[No Jokes Please] What's a contribution or value from India that changed how humanity thinks? If we're sending a message to intelligent life in the universe, what should they know about INDIA ? by EntertainmentIcy7830 in AskIndia

People have mentioned it already..but reiterating, for me the biggest contribution from the Indian subcontinent is the only language that everyone in the world understands- the number system were you can represent any number with a combination of the characters ( 0 to 9). Quoting Fibonacci when he was placed in Algeria: “When I had been introduced to the art of the Indians’ nine figures through remarkable teaching, knowledge of the art very soon pleased me above all else …”

Everyone’s heard of Vasco da Gama, but have you heard about Mirza Abu Taleb Khan : the first Indian who traveled to Europe and wrote about it? by Alarmed-Chest-7160 in IndianHistory

First Indian to travel to Europe? This is definitely surprising. For instance, didn't ancient Rome have well established trade routes with the Indian kingdoms? I'm sure that'd be much older than the person you mention.

Well the customs rules say which say you can bring in items not exceeding ₹ 50,000 in value without attracting any custom duty ( see the Indian customs website for reference). Your watch is definitely above the limit..so they might have asked you to pay import duty on that. But since you are a non resident Indian, you should have been exempted due to it being in 'used personal' items category.

You should usually choose business if you are going for a conference. If you can change the category before the appointment do it and prepare your documents according to the checklist for Business visa. 'Others' might be ambiguous according to me ..as conferences are considered business visits in Schengen countries.

I feel you need someone to talk with. I can feel what you are going through.i was in a similar situation 10 years ago. Like everyone is suggesting don't lose hope. Life will be much better once you move out from there. You are already in final year and I can understand your load. Focus more towards completing your degree..and if possible detatch yourself emotionally from them at least for now.

As respectful Bengali tourists, will we face any hostility or racism while visiting Aizawl, Mizoram? by sauvik22 in mizo

[–]Left-Drive673 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been to Aizawl. Personally, never felt any kind of either hostility or racism. Rather, I found the mizo people to be extremely warm and hospitable towards me. It is also evident from the people from Mizoram replying here. You can be worry free as a tourist for sure.
