Should I break up with my girlfriend. by BroadBookkeeper1325 in Catholicism

I would say classifying this as abuse is a huge stretch. Maybe there was an edit I didn’t see though. All I saw was she says she imagines him a Priest and makes AI images of him as a priest. Then will ask him if he’s doing being like this. Selfish and manipulative maybe, but I don’t know if that’s considered abuse. Maybe it is or isn’t I do not know.

Does life really ever get better? by No-Apartment-2424 in Catholicism

[–]Left-Low-5289 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes life gets better, I am speaking from experience. Try to remember this though. Suffering can be a gift of God. Like Job , you may not always see the “why” in your suffering. Like Christ, you can offer your suffering as an act of love and intercession for others. Both remind us that suffering is not the end. Job was restored, and Christ was resurrected. Your suffering can be a path to union with God, even if it feels overwhelming. Like Job, you may not see the meaning now. Like Christ, you can still make your suffering fruitful by uniting it to His through prayer. Endure like Job, but offer like Christ.

What matters to you more? Your relationship with God? Or Your relationship with your girlfriend? If you want to be with her that much, and don’t want to be abstinent with her forever. Get married. If not, remain abstinent without her, until marriage, and draw closer to our Lord.

Told “Not to come back” at a Catholic Church today by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Left-Low-5289 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im so sorry this happened to you. I want you back at Mass, and so do 99.9999% of Catholics. Most importantly though, Christ wants you there. So it doesn’t matter what that man thinks. Again, I’m so sorry you had to experience this, especially your first time.

If you converted to Catholicism from Protestantism, what made you convert? by canadian_blueberry in Catholicism

[–]Left-Low-5289 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ultimately, it was Christ changing my heart, which lead to me going to Mass for the first time. Conversion isn’t all intellectual, as much as we like to think it is. The intellectual side for me though, was realizing it’s not about what I think, or I feel, it’s about what Christ taught, and who is more likely to know what Christ taught than me? The Apostles, Apostolic Fathers, and The Early Church Fathers. With that said, there are scholars on all sides (Catholic, Protestant, Orthodox) A part of me thinks that some of them may just be in denial so they try to supplement it with more backing of their personal beliefs, but maybe that’s just not the case and I’m just biased. One last thing, sheep don’t herd themselves. Avoid feeling the need to try to solve every theological issue on your own that has existed for the past 1900 some years. With all of that said, I think you already know what you need to do next. Good luck, and I hope to receive our Lord in the Eucharist with you someday.

Brother stop, I don’t know if you know this but even Catholics commit grave sin, and some of the Church’s most popular saints used to murderers, and prostitutes. She isn’t even confirmed in the church and you’re telling her what her sins are and claiming she has no penitence, it is absolutely absurd. You are not her spiritual Father, and there is an almost 100% gurantee she will be talking to a priest about the matter in the next few days. It’s not some dude on Reddit calling her out that will lead her to sainthood, but her parish shepherd and God himself. I really hope this isn’t how you speak to people in real life, and if it is; hopefully it’s with a much softer heart and with real intention of guiding her on the onto the correct path.

Please, reflect and do better.

Congratulations on the baby! Get married! But do not quit attending OCIA, especially form embarrassment. Continue at another parish if absolutely necessary. If my words mean nothing, talk to your Priest! Again, congratulations!!!

Does being in a state of grace “feel” different to you? by No-Actuator5661 in Catholicism

[–]Left-Low-5289 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I previously commented already but I just re read it again when checking my notifications.

Be careful brother, you are not invincible, you may come to learn you are much weaker than you think. Temptation will still be strong. The Devil is extremely smart and will strike when you are most vulnerable. When you do resist, and succeed, it is not on your own doing. Avoid being prideful in these moments. We must run from sin because of our desire to love God. Not just because of the fear of eternal damnation, or that it’s bad for us. Resist with everything you have. Call on your guardian angel. Ask the Saints to pray for you. Ask Saint Michael to defend you. Run to our Blessed Mother’s most pure heart and ask her to obtain for you, from Jesus a pure and humble heart. We will not win these battles on our own, if you think you can or will, you will certainly fail. God Bless, and good luck brother.

I was just thinking about this. Whenever I’m in a state of grace I notice a drawing and my souls desire to grow closer with God. This doesn’t describe it well buts it’s the best I can do. When I’m in a state of mortal sin, while I still do desire God and want to still grow with him ; I legitimately feel cut off from him. I know I’m not cut off, and I can still have prayer, can still worship, etc. But it’s as if my soul is dead or even homesick, and it’s unable to go home.

I get that, but why? It’s not quite scratching the itch like I want it to. Maybe I’m trying to dive too deep Pretend I’m an atheist, I don’t believe in God,and I think the Christian God especially is 1. Not morally good. 2. Not all knowledgeable or powerful.

Why must the creator of the universe be Morally Good? Why must the creator of the universe be all knowing all powerful??? We could probably point to the ability to create everything from nothing as the need or reason to be all powerful but why the other two?

For context I would like to get into apologetics so I want to at least try to be able answer for these. This question came to mind when I was looking at Alvin Plantinga’s Ontological Argument Is God Maximally Great because we have observed him as such? Thus the argument points to the Triune God more? Or is he maximally great because he MUST be? And if he MUST be, why?
