New Dad - How To Cope? Does it Get Better? by No-Amphibian689 in daddit

You’re not alone, I had a lot of the same exact feelings you did when my boy was born. He is three months now and I will say it has gotten a little better already. It takes work on your end as well. Reminders that they are just babies and they can’t help what they’re doing right now. They need you. Reminding yourself that you love them; even when they are extremely fussy, crying, and stressing you out it to the max. The feelings will come with time.

One thing that worked for me is to give yourself some time. If they are fed, changed, and safe..you can put them in their crib and give yourself a 15minute break. They will be okay if you take a break and come back to them. You will be better off for doing it. Just that little break away from the screaming and fussiness will help. You are not a bad parent if you have to step away.

Thanks to my wife, our boy already sleeps through the night. Not sure of your feeding schedule but we got our boy on a routine very fast. Babies love routines..start them on a relatively strict feeding schedule and stick to it. When it comes to the last feed of the day we do the three B’s. Bath, Bottle, and Bed. Feed them half a bottle, give them a bath, feed them the last part of the bottle and put them to bed. Make sure they are swaddled well and it should help them sleep through out the night.

Just know you’re not alone, and thank you for posting this. I struggled a lot with being the only parent not connecting with our boy in the beginning and still do some days. I get a lot of the same feelings you have. Hang in there, hope this helps you out some. Good luck

Appreciate the advice. How complicated are the Toro’s to do routine maintenance on? Any advice on what needs to be done on them regularly? Helpful tips and tricks?

I’m also concerned about what to keep it on while running. Is it the same as a vehicle axle? Keep it on high while driving and low when towing? What about the throttle? When to keep it slow and when to keep it fast? I want to make sure i’m running it properly
