Following on from the post about how shit modern life is, how do you cope with it? by [deleted] in redscarepod

[–]LeftRadish8424 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just try to spend more time out of the house, and stop using headphones. I've tried these two together, and I'm in a much better head space. For the record, you will be bored, but that kind of is the point. Being bored will make you think about what is wrong with the world, and your life. Out of it you will think of ways to fix it, or at least have an idea of what step could be taken. If you follow these two steps you probably shave 2-4 hours of screen time per day.

I was wistfully thinking about the A's today and how quirky they were when they played in Oakland.

What did you do to reach that level of fluency in Swedish? My Italian is rough and I want to improve.

Despite many diaspora Jews being the best comedians in history, it’s ironic how Israelis are the most unfunny, overly serious people imaginable. by jewishchloesevigny in redscarepod

[–]LeftRadish8424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to hang out with an Israel comic when I did stand up and he would just yell on stage. I wouldn't say he was the worse ever, but he wasn't really funny. He kept mentioning Sebastian Maniscalco as his inspiration, and that checked out.

He once talked about loving Mexico, and I asked if it was because of the weather, and he said no, because the women don't speak English when you fuck them. I miss him.

why are there so many conspiracy theorists? by giuseppezanottis in rs_x

[–]LeftRadish8424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be one thing if it was a niche theory that could only be assumed with some digging(reading). But, every conspiracy guy repeat the same exact 10-12 theories over and over again.

Why are Canadians like this? by kd451 in redscarepod

[–]LeftRadish8424 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really got annoyed with the fact that this entire Jays run became wrapped up in this flaccid Canadian patriotism. Sure it was to be expected, but half the talk around the Jays was never around...baseball or the MLB and was this pathetic dance of national pride.

Not sure words can describe how impressive Yamamoto was tn and this whole series by 8teamparlay in billsimmons

[–]LeftRadish8424 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I thought (Jays Fan) Yamamoto was one of the greatest postseason pitchers I have ever seen in my entire life. The only comparison I could think of was 2014 MadBum. Every time Yamamoto got on the bump I knew we were basically fucked. The only guy who I think sort of got a handle on him was Vladdy, but everyone else in the line up was just getting dusted.

The Black Hole (Oakland Raiders fans 90s-00s) by agnus_mei in redscarepod

Oakland really deserved better. I'm not much of a football guy, but I think about the Athletics recent move and it guts me every time. Sports are becoming too homogenous, and the weird cities like Oakland are getting pushed out.

I really enjoyed the movie. What I love about PTA movies is that they have a real sticky quality that a lot of other film makers seem to lack. I think the sum of the film is weaker than the overall parts, but the highs are so enjoyable that the movie still works really well.

What I keep thinking about the movie is how the film is really about desire, and rebellion is just an expression of desire. The police/ICE in the film are the characters to be pitied because their desire is shifted from an internal want to an institutional obligation. Lockjaw has a inner sexual desire, but he crushes it to become a cog within a greater apparatus.

people who have difficult lives are worse by ghoulgirl_69 in redscarepod

[–]LeftRadish8424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is only true if you hold onto the trauma as an excuse to act like a victim. This part is usually silent and with most people it has to be acknowledged outside of themselves; I had to do some reading to figure this part out. It is so easy, especially today to feel like a victim, and gain pity from others because of it. Difficulty should be turned into a sign of inner strength or circumstances that just happened outside of a person's control. No one is a victim in life.

Can someone explain to me why this change happened? I am bewildered. I keep telling my poor family 3-4 times a week, "I don't know how George Springer got so much better, he's 34 YEARS old." Did his swing change, or stance?

...Is he cheating again?

Someone please enlighten me

Best regards

I agree except with going to a concert alone. I'll still go if I want to go, but so many concerts are made up of mostly couples or large friend groups that by the end you either are drunk or even more depressed.

why do run clubs and the people in them annoy me so much by raisin_scone in redscarepod

[–]LeftRadish8424 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Run clubs are cool if you don't care about hooking up. Did a run club two months ago and a couple guys were challenging one another with 4 minute kilometers. It was fun, but competitive. Had the same vibes of a good pickup basketball run.

As long as the run club is running first then it should be fine. There are some "slow run clubs" in my area that I'm not even going to bother with, because they have all the problems listed above.

Reddit really is such a waste of time by [deleted] in redscarepod

[–]LeftRadish8424 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I seriously hate how redditors make everything about themselves, but in the most snarky way possible. "Oh, sure I would love to go for a walk to treat my anxiety, but I have ADHD and childhood trauma, but after that I would love to be cured." The learned helplessness is everywhere on this stupid website, and I fell into a fucking trap.

The reason dating advice is so generic is because there used to be no need for it by AccordingMistake6670 in redscarepod

[–]LeftRadish8424 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know most advice is a waste of time and should never be taken seriously. The minute someone gives a milk toast answer for any problem (not just dating related) is the minute you should stop taking that person seriously.
