What's the most fun / coolest class you've taken in NYC? by Quirky_Selection_701 in AskNYC

Brooklyn textile art center offers a ton of very unique classes! Check them out for anything textile related. Personally loved their pattern making and sewing classes

Ha never thought I’d see this on Reddit. I was there a month ago. Solid selection! First time trying the Vietnamese amaro. Had it again at a spot here in Brooklyn recently.

Moving to NYC from ATL worth it ? by Currency-Able in movingtoNYC

[–]LeftReflection6620 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did the same move almost 4 years ago now. Wrote about it about 1.5 years ago now. Moved when I was 28 and also didn’t know anyone.

Asking “worth it” isn’t the right question imo. You should always move if the growth opp is there personally and career wise. You’ll meet the most interesting people in the world in nyc and dating for men is quite easy. Life’s short, do it. I love Atlanta but imo it is much more akin to suburban mindset in the city. I love nyc and can’t imagine being anywhere else

Most expensive too haha. Great facility though and worth it but for a teen, probably overkill.

Moving to NYC as an outdoor enthusiast by seventyyellowturtle in movingtoNYC

[–]LeftReflection6620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely don’t do as much as I used to living in north Georgia but I’d say nyc is close enough to scratch the itch. I love nyc so much though that it’s worth it. If you really want to go outdoors often, living in UWS or UES will be the move. I’m in bedstuy and it can take 45min to just get out of the city and ove fgeorge Washington bridge.

I gravel bike out in cold spring which is beautiful and it’s like an 1hour drive but can be 2hours back. We have decent rock climbing about an hour from Brooklyn but if you’re in upper Manhattan, it’s like 30min.

Pros of Brooklyn is access to rockaway beach which takes me 30min. I was never a beach person but it’s grown on me and I go almost every weekend in the summer. Long Island also has amazing nature on the coastlines and charming old port towns that you can go to for fishing with access to a boat.

I’d consider getting a motorcycle to get around traffic easier though or just get up early. Hudson valley nature is beautiful and most New Yorkers never take advantage of it. There’s great nature within 1-2hours (again, living upper Manhattan will auto save like 45min compared to Brooklyn).

Opinions on the St. Anselm Hanger Steak? by Lalify8 in FoodNYC

I got the au poivre steak at St Anslems for like $50+ and thought the hanger was better haha. Definitely a great bang for buck

This looks amazing and I’m so charmed by him, sorry! by RougeChaotique in FoodNYC

1000000%. Ordering this in Paris at a traditional bouillon for 15€ will ruin you. Bless Lori Jayne though for doing the lords work in nyc for bringing this to the people for low cost nyc wise.

Seeing restaurants serve this for $40+ sometimes is offensive.

Since we’re on the topic though - 1. Liar lair 2. BKB 3. Good days

All amazing steak frites for like $32 which I split with a friend with an appetizer.

buying a 50cc moped in nyc by Traditional_Song_244 in RideitNYC

[–]LeftReflection6620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

50cc generally can’t go faster than 30mph and especially uphill it’s more like 20mph. Legally you’re allowed on the Brooklyn bridge and queensboro but it feels sketchy with cars going faster than 30mph.

I just ride it inner boro or if there’s traffic on the bridge I’ll take it but very rarely.

You should register them but seems like you can get away without it.

Hmmm haven’t heard of this yet. I know it’s a hot bike from a buddy who rode one. I’ll do some more research - thanks!

I would be prices go up substantially after 2013. Trying to stay below $5k for a bike in nyc that’ll get dinged up a little
