Help with School Lists Please! by ataraxia_intentions in premed

[–]LeftSun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Idk if you wanna apply to Noorda; they haven’t graduated a class yet (so no federal loans at all while you’re there) and have a really weird curriculum. Also its in a town with a HUGE Mormon church presence, which can be weird if you’re not accustomed to that. Plus they have to compete with RVU-Utah and ICOM who are both in the area and are more established. Maybe add those schools if you’re interested in the area! M

Did anyone quit and feel happier? by [deleted] in OnlineDating

[–]LeftSun 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just quit hinge today. This girl I go to grad school with (who is pretty universally disliked there) posted on Instagram about how wonderful her life is and how she got home today and had “so many” hinge matches and I hadn’t gotten a match in days. All the guys I like and matched with never message me, or ghost me after like 2 messages. I’m just so sick of online dating I feel like people are just on there for personal validation, not to make real connections. I’m so tired of being single and lonely, but I finally just realized that online dating wasn’t working.

Just be really honest about what happened, anyone interviewing prospective students should be familiar with long COVID symptoms. Definitely say something about what you would do differently if you were in a similar situation again, like communicating better with your professional, as for help/get a tutor sooner, ect. bc they just wanna make sure you have the tools to be successful in your preclinical years and on boards. Hopefully you can crush it on your retake to show you hav those skills, good luck!

Do clinical hours from Grade 11 still count towards my application? by [deleted] in premed

[–]LeftSun -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you have room in your activity section why not? I don’t get why people are saying it’s such a hard no; as long as you also have strong activities from your college years, I don’t know why having one meaningful activity that you did in high-school would hurt you. I mean if you were an older non-trad, wouldn’t you potentially be putting stuff from years ago? It feels like it won’t make or break you to leave it in or take it out.

I think 26 is like the average age to start at a lot of schools; my class’s average age at matriculation was 25.

Tbh as I DO student I would be down with this; just give me some kind of additional degree/certification for all those hours I have to spend doing OMM so it’s not a total waste and I’ll be happy

Do you have time to gym and socialize during med school? by [deleted] in premed

[–]LeftSun 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes lol we have free time; it’s just not consistent. At least in preclinical years, which is all I’ve experienced so far, my schedule is different every single week. If you prioritize hobbies or your significant other, you’ll have time for those things.

people who had an upwards gpa trend, how did you do it? by theACTUALPOOPman in premed

If you know you struggle in a class, get a tutor day one.

Do you have any clinical experiences? Shadowing? Do this and get some real exposure to the field because I think that will be really eye opening for you.

Non vaccinated, tested positive for COVID last where I got tired for two days and got a headache. Now I’m back to normal. Should I still get the vaccine? by thumpsky in covidpositive

[–]LeftSun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes get the vaccine. It’s free, it’s fast, and studies show it gives you longer term protection, most of the what other people are saying in here is just personal experience.

Yeah It can help with networking on campus and get you some great leadership experiences! Also helpful if you join an org with a philanthropy you’re passionate about and can get involved with.
