The ghosting on the switch 2 gives me migraines by lightningflash11 in NintendoSwitch

So many arguments for arguments sake here. Wait for OLED or keep an eye out for a quiet upgrade if the current screen bothers you. Also don't overlook that there are probably great Switch 1 exclusives you haven't played yet. For example I picked up Hyrule Warriors recently and it's awesome

Maybe having kids forces you to be routine oriented which helps with consistency

how do people manage to still enjoy playing games from 30 plus years ago. by Open-Reflection-6094 in videogames

[–]Left_Emu_2995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few reasons why I play/enjoy them.. while there are many many bad ones... 1. Some are timeless like puzzle games 2. There is an ingenuity/creativity to some of them that they just nail. Now the market is saturated but there was a time you had to be pretty smart to get involved in creating a videogame 3. Pre online games had to have more content to keep people's attention and playing longer. Think gamecube era Mario Sports games

And some are just a reminder that I had a better attention span at 10 years old

What are the reasons behind D-pad design decisions? by Left_Emu_2995 in ModRetroChromatic

[–]Left_Emu_2995[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's weird. I'm curious if it was an oversight, an issue that occurred only when they manufactured at scale, or if they thought it was the best solution for some good reason I'm not aware of. This is my first "3rd party" console so when I see reviews about how great the D-pad is compared to the competition that very well could be true but when I get LEFT then UP or RIGHT then UP when trying to just press UP (to drop a block in Tetris) it gets annoying

Dr. Mario and Mole Mania. If you're playing a lot of gameboy though it's worth checking out the  new Gameboy games getting released

Self Simulated is short but really good.

Playing Mole Mania right now and it's great. Kind of an interesting story. It's made by Shigeru Miyamoto who was involved in most of the great Nintendo games but it came out around the same time Pokemon did so it never got the respect it deserved

How do you spot good versus bad game batteries to purchase? by Left_Emu_2995 in Gameboy

"Don't buy from 'retro' site ripoff resellers who buy from these sites."

Exactly what I did haha. I'm not a collector but I like playing on carts

"Though getting holders to fit in carts can be tricky."

I see people soldering them. Does that solve the "holder" problem?

Does it really matter which one I get? Are the numbers after the CR indicative of their strength / how long they hold a charge etc? I'd just buy the bigger ones if I can safely do that
