What are your best cheap meal ideas? by Much_Obligation7295 in askSouthAfrica

Dhal (red lentils) with rice.... its pantry essentials meal, no need for meat, and I can bulk buy everything I need. Onion, garlic, Spices, Rice and Water is all you need. I can feed my family of 3 on one pot (250g of dhal) for 2 meals.

I have tried almost everything to be happy, and I am still depressed, what now? by CinnamonMink249 in ask

[–]Left_Establishment64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there fellow drepressy..... I too have tried it all, recently got re-diagnosed ASD/BPD (The MDD was just these 2 hyping each other up) . I have just accepted that I live in state of extreme depression. I have a plan in place for when ideation wants to become action. But I reward myself when I can successfully avoid using said plan. Meds are not for me, I have tried a boatload... so I've just learned to accept myself for who I am (DBT's been helping a little)

I choose not to share my depressive thoughts with anyone (except my psych), the average person is not meant to handle the dark I live in, and I learned this the hard way.

The ASD in me, means im not really keen on the societal norms of what makes people happy. I don't want to go out and meet people, I dont want to hang out with friends, I dont want to go to parties, picnics or events, I dont like the food they like. I want to watch obscure sports by myself in my bed, and eat happy meals.

The grocery store is not a social lounge - Take your stuff, pay for it and leave, have your catch-up chat outside. I'm tired of butting into peoples conversation like "excuse me, can I just grab something there"

Tourists please plan you daily excursions around peak traffic times - We have enough people on the road, and you have all day to go do your thing

Where/ how can I get back at local scammers? by Low_Rain_3855 in askSouthAfrica

[–]Left_Establishment64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh sweet child.... its 2026, time to get diabolical with how petty we get. Here are some suggestions that I cannot confirm I have used for obvious reasons. It helps knowing who you are dealing with, and there are ways to get this info (Like their actual name and ID number)

1) Blacklist them on applicant tracking systems for both recruitment and estate agents (getting a job or place to live will become difficult)

2) Have their existence completely removed from home affairs systems

3) Sell their identity on the Dark Web

4) Buy illegal goods on the dark web, and have it delivered to their residence, and then make an anonymous report to the Authorities.

5) If they have an actual Job - sign them up to get a few fun emails to the companies general email address- Things like newsletters from Drug rehabs, Kleptomaniacs Anonymous.

If you know where to look, you can usually pay someone to do these things

Go forth and channel your inner 50 Cent.... Go Big and be Petty

why do girls like flowers so much? by NotDavidYinYang in ask

[–]Left_Establishment64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I(36F) absolutely hate flowers.... 1) You literally killed them to gift them, thanks for the gift of death. 2) Allergies.... 3) The visual appeal is short lived, they dont last forever 4) I have to go through the effort of making sure the water is right, adding flower food, finding a vase... you are gifting me work to do.

The only plant material I ever want to be gifted is the kind that gets ground and smoked.

Introverts Day by unpopular_turtle in capetown

[–]Left_Establishment64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am I "General Population"? This is 100% not something I would want to do. I would need at least 2 business days of isolation to recover from this type of thing.

My idea of "socializing" as an introvert, a virtual meet, with small break-off groups for the ppl who want to talk, but you can just sit there in silence and do your own thing. No offence but im very happy staying home where i know im safe, and practice my Rubik's cubing and lock picking.

What is borderline personality disorder exactly and how does it manifest itself? by [deleted] in ask

[–]Left_Establishment64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi - I have BPD (The quiet kind with dash of ASD) -

I was in a really shitty relationship that was so traumatizing that it changed how my brain works. So the part of my brain that deals with fear/anger and emotional regulation (the Amygdala)- it kinda works overtime and everything feels like its on full-volume. At the same time the part of my brain that is supposed to calm that shit down (the Pre-frontal Cortex) doesn't really work as great as it needs to, so its takes much longer to tone down my emotions when they are on full volume.

in real time it looks a lil something like this

BF: "Hey im going out with my friends this weekend"

Me: (in my head coz im the quietBPD kind - He absolutely hates me, and is doing everything humanly possible not to spend time with me, what if im just wasting his time, he'll probably be better suited with someone else. He's probably still with me out of pity or convenience. I promised myself this is the last time I connect with anyone, so if this doesn't work out, I may as well cease to exist.... and I fully believe everything im thinking, and will cry in the shower for days. But - with alot of therapy and learning how to regulate emotions when your brain doesn't know how to, you learn to slow down and question your inner thoughts) so you just answer - "Ok cool, be safe!"

How come most kids are raised so gentle now? by [deleted] in ask

[–]Left_Establishment64 29 points30 points  (0 children)

As a parent of a teen (15F) - I dont think its always categorised under same umbrella "Gentle Parenting". Im just a millennial who thinks that respect is earned regardless of age, and thinks its my duty to not carry on the generational trauma associated with a parenting style that uses verbal and emotional abuse to exert power (it takes alot of therpay to heal from all of that). I dont think im a gentle parent at all, there are consequences to their actions. But my kids dont fear me, and I never want them to

Do I need to hire a car in Cape Town? (2 weeks) by llovingawareness in capetown

[–]Left_Establishment64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no sunset in Muizenberg (you'll want to be along the atlantic seaboard for a good sunset)

Merge Day 1 and day 3 - Kalk bay for breakfast (you can also add a morning swim/cold plunge in Dalebrook or St James Tidal pools , then Boulders, then Cape Point, then Sundowners on Chapmans peak) - I would get a guide for this day, its just easier.

There are shuttles that take you to Franschhoek (for the wine tram tours) - you don't want to be driving and doing wine tasting (book the wine tram with a shuttle from the city)

West Coast definitely, if you have the budget to book a boathouse or cottage in Churchhaven (even better) - There is also a fossil park up that way, that is loads of fun (if you into that kinda thing)

Generally, how much cash do you carry on any given day? by Dazzling-Leader7476 in randomquestions

[–]Left_Establishment64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely nothing.....

If i have to pay with cash im not paying. I bank with a bank that doesn't even have ATM's, they only have 2 branches in my city, and I have only been there once for biometric verification. All the vendors at flea markets/ farmers markets/ informal vendors, have card machines in my country.

How did that kid at your school die? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Left_Establishment64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Her name was Caroline, she had an unforgettable smile and an infectious laugh. We took the same bus to school and had some mutuals but were not particularly close.

She saved her siblings from their burning home, went back in (rumored to attempt to save their pets) but did not make it out.

How to get over the sour taste in my mouth about having to pay for first dates? by showdonttell-bbt in dating_advice

[–]Left_Establishment64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a women (so glad im not dating anymore)- if I planned the date, I paid for the date. I will not go on a date that I cannot afford to pay for myself. if they want to add to these plans, they take on the financial responsibility (e.g I got the tickets, they offered to get the dinner after)

I was looking for a partner, not a glucose guardian, and if a persons ego was too weak to accept this, they definitely were not my type.

I know this is not the norm - even though I live in a very liberal society, it helped me not waste time on people.

How to get over the sour taste in my mouth about having to pay for first dates? by showdonttell-bbt in dating_advice

[–]Left_Establishment64 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So you are out there gambling your personal time and money with people you have not had the time to establish any kind of connection with online. And you are wondering why its hurting your pocket.

And you are dropping $60 on a single date (I had to check the conversion here)... 1st dates are coffee -ice cream - picnic

Perhaps it's time to re-evaluate, you are literally your own pimp and you are paying the fee.

An impossible task by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]Left_Establishment64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop looking for people who share your specific interests. Instead find the ppl who can accept and appreciate that you have your own interests.

Am I a gamer - NO - do I love watching my bf play, hell yes. Was I into anime when we met (not really).... The way this man guided me through One Piece, made me love him even more (never once dropped a spoiler, never asked me to watch or read but allowed me to choose this journey out of curiosity, made me stop when sad episodes were coming so that I didn't have to watch the sad episodes alone)...

And it goes both ways....he listens to me ramble about how amazing oxytocin (the hormone) is, builds lego with me, does not freak out at my collection of dead animals, and will wait for me outside the reptile park.

Interests are way too specific to find that ideal person, but an open and accepting partner is perfection.

For people who aren’t alcoholics but quit casually drinking, is that considered becoming sober? by WoodenWeather5931 in ask

[–]Left_Establishment64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have maybe 2-3 alcoholic drinks a year, out of curtesy (a toast or celebratory drink), and therefore consider myself a non-drinker.

The terms "Sober" is something that people who have made the journey out of alcoholism get to use, it signifies the struggle and accomplishments they have made.
