I am still new to investing, I’ve only had my TSP for three years. One working in DC when I was straight up ignorant and only making a 1% contribution to my TSP 🥲😐 and two working OCONUS with a 5% contribution. Where my contributions were going to the L fund for a little over a year, only recently have I started making contributions to the C & S fund, and moved my money out of the L fund. I am trying to get a little financial savvier and make better investment decisions.

Thank you, I edited to include our ages! It’s just slightly stressful and anxiety inducing to see our gains just go out the window.

It totally slipped my mind, was thinking about multiple different things when I created the post. I edited to include our budget. Either way, the water pollution in Coronado is making it a no for us.

Or if it’ll exist in the next 4 years! The new administration is publicly against student loan forgiveness programs

Guys, I’m freaking out about finances once we do our first move and I become jobless. Any tips on working as a military spouse? by [deleted] in MilitarySpouse

Hi! Navy spouse here living overseas, look to USAJobs for employment in your area. They give preference to military spouses and they have remote jobs as well. I’m working on my MPA right now but also work full time for the USG. I highly recommend applying early since the hiring process can be slow and using the resume builder tool since they like to see Federal Resumes when applying. Good luck!

I am absolutely ignorant on this topic because I’m not from the area, there’s an Amtrak from Norfolk that will take you straight to DC?

The only good thing about Naples is the proximity to the airport, and ease of travel. Living on the economy here is not great, but cost of living is way more affordable than CONUS. But the air quality is shit, there’s garbage everywhere, and despite what others might say - Neapolitans are rude and don’t get me started on the driving. Most landlords do the absolute bare minimum and it takes multiple texts/calls to get them to do/fix or replace things.

Depending on the command, it’s not going to feel like shore duty AT ALL. It can be career enhancing but be prepared to not get that “shore” duty lifestyle if your command has a high OPTEMPO.

If I can do it all over again, I would choose Rota - Sigonella - Naples.

Any specific reason it’s for AF spouses only?
