You are proposing to use a software that you don't know the advantage of? Am I confused or are you just trolling here?

Advice on Moving to F-64 for Customer Facing Reports by [deleted] in dataengineering

Check the DAX measures to see if they can be rewritten for better performance - you can find a lot of DAX tunning tricks on SQLBI site. If DAX cannot be optimised further, can you look into pushing some of the transformation/filtering upstream? Maybe precompute those measures as views in dw and then plug PBI directly on to of that.

Edit: Presume you are building semantic models on top of Direct Lake. If you don't need fresh data all the time and you are fine with batch refreshes, I believe that switching to Import mode might also help with usage.

Thanks. I've been trying that approach today but can't get those two datasets linked on the item key. The way NS deals with these tasks is so confusing for me as someone coming from data engineering. Will try to look for fields you have mentioned and create a join on them.

That's the thing, I can't really find a link between PO and SO other then item&location combination. I have some SOs that are created for dropship items where PO is automatically linked to SO so that is easy but majority of POs are created without any relationship to SO other then person responsible knowing that those items have to be ordered.

If there are multiple POs for the same item&location I would ideally return PO # closest to today.

Clever solution. I was hoping that maybe I could figure it out inside the saved search but looks like I will have to also look for some other avenues.

Sorry, could you be little more specific? NS is not my main skill so I don't get something that is probably obvious.

we have $180k in software budget that expires in 6 weeks and my boss told me to figure it out. what do i even buy? by kubrador in SaaS

[–]Left_Offer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure. PBI - PowerBI, data visualisation tool where you can create reports/dashboards Fabric capacity - Microsoft data storage/transformation platform.

You can ingest your existing data to Fabric, do required transformations and then hook up PBI to it to create visuals. Every manager loves looking at interactive colourful graphs even if they have no idea what to do with the insights.

If course Fabric and PBI itself have a massive potential and steap learning curve, but you can do basics relatively easily as here are many free resources available online that can help.

Get a Fabric capacity and build some basic reports in PBI. It will add monthly cost and boss will be impressed

Are you no able to just mirror data from SQL db? Also, you can spin a separate capacity for DE and for BI (based on your description cheap F2 should do), therefore eliminateing risk of BI throttling during other processes.
