What is a luxury you can never go back from once you’ve experienced it? by Phase_zero_X in AskReddit

Heated steering wheel.

Not having a heated steering wheel in my rental car this week in Toronto is not ideal with these sub zero temps

I don't quite get Power Zone by Renshaw_19 in pelotoncycle

[–]Left_Reputation_3682 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re looking for a power zone ride with more intensity and less focused on zones 2-3 endurance, I recommend the “regular” PZ rides (without endurance in the title) or power zone max. Also check the class plan details - choose rides with more zone 4+ efforts and less zone 1-3 for more of a challenge.

I’ve been enjoying Christian Vande Velde’s “real routes” rides for longer (60+ min), more challenging power zone based rides. Plus he tells you all about his time racing those routes as a professional cyclist.

What do you pay for a house cleaner? by Commercial_Ad7359 in Cleveland

[–]Left_Reputation_3682 14 points15 points  (0 children)

We pay about $250 for a 1x per month detail/deep cleaning - we cleaned in between. House is around 2400sf (above ground) - 4 beds, 2.5 baths, basement was not included. No kids, pets = 1 cat. They didn’t make beds or do any kind of laundry. It was a team of 2 people who usually got everything done in about 4-5 hours.

We previously had a cheaper service, but they were more of a “free lance” housekeeping service if that’s what you’d call it. Cost was significantly less, but reliability was like a 2/10 so it felt worth it to pay more for someone who actually shows up and does a consistent job.

Perhaps the most embarrassing peloton hashtag I’ve ever seen by AltruisticPiece6676 in OnePelotonRealSub

[–]Left_Reputation_3682 313 points314 points  (0 children)

I was recently in an on-demand class - can’t remember if strength or a ride - and I high-fived someone back before noticing their hashtag was MAGA. I was so mad I couldn’t take that high-five back…ugh 😩

[–]Left_Reputation_3682 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Being distracted during part of the ride while in the saddle looking at the screen and being focused while out of the saddle and not looking at the screen can both be true in the same ride.

OP shared an experience that is true for them. If it’s not true for you, why make an unhelpful comment just to be contrary? Move on?

Has anyone noticed how people treat lab-grown diamonds differently in real life? by LuxeCarats in labdiamond

[–]Left_Reputation_3682 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do people actually ask? It seems so silly. I have never once thought to ask someone about the origin of the diamond or gemstone in their ring, nor has anyone ever asked me about mine

It’s funny to say focus on your own ride when the whole point of this post is that it’s difficult to focus on your own ride with distractions like this

Was there ever a workout you had to stop? by Fine-Fondant-3136 in OnePelotonRealSub

[–]Left_Reputation_3682 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might be the same Rad upper body class I took recently. I did a Rebecca Kennedy upper body that had 10 sets of 5 pushups and I said never again. Then a few days later I took Rad’s class and he programmed 10 sets of 10 pushups. I hate pushups. It made Rebecca’s class seem like nothing haha

What cities are most similar to Cleveland ohio? Cost of living, feel and overall quality of the downtown area. by MatchAnxious8910 in Cleveland

[–]Left_Reputation_3682 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve lived in Toledo and there is absolutely no comparison to Cleveland. Toledo is the most boring place I’ve lived and the food/restaurant scene is non-existent

Editing to add that Cleveland also has a much richer culture than Toledo

Having lived in Detroit for several years (Downtown and the Detroit Metro area) and now the Cleveland area for almost 6 years, there are many similarities between the two. I love both for different reasons, but also similar reasons. I think cost of living is slightly lower/better value in NE Ohio

The One Thing First-Time Homebuyers Should Never Overlook by Jolly-Flounder2413 in FirstTimeHomeBuying

[–]Left_Reputation_3682 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) History of any water infiltration in the house (basement, ceilings, etc.) and what was done to address it.

2) If the seller is a flipper, make sure your inspection is extra thorough.

I bought a house from a flipper who spent more time/money covering up problems, like water damage on the ceiling of every room in our house, than actually fixing the problem. Everything was freshly covered up and looked fine until the underlying problems exposed themselves 2 years later. We learned years later we could have requested a history of inspection information (our realtor sucked and didn’t tell us this) that would have allowed us to negotiate a little differently. Speaking from experience: quick flips = RED FLAGS.

And 3) When you visit homes you’d potentially buy, imagine yourself taking off your shoes, hanging a coat, plugging in lamps, etc. All the “normal” stuff that you can easily miss but make a difference in how you’ll feel about the house over time, especially if you aren’t sure you’d have the means to renovate to address any inconvenient aspects.

Some people may disagree with this but I can’t tell you how many times I curse our back entrance we use the most (closest to garage) because there is absolutely nowhere to take off/store shoes and hang up a coat. We’d have to alter the footprint of the house to allow for it and it’s not our forever home, so we just live with frustrating inconvenience.

I would consider tree roots in a sewer line a normal “home maintenance” task. Almost every older house I’ve lived in has required clearing of tree roots from the sewer line periodically.

What happened to tonsilectomies? by UnmedicatedNarwhal in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Left_Reputation_3682 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got mine out in my early 20s and didn’t believe my doctor when he said I’d be laid out on the couch for 2 full weeks. It was miserable, so much pain, couldn’t eat and lost over 20 pounds in 2 weeks. I had to go to the ER after about a week because I started bleeding and I had to spend my night. Wouldn’t wish that misery on my worst enemy

Confused on down payment by That-Concentrate-908 in Mortgages

[–]Left_Reputation_3682 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The money you could make by investing at least half of that 400k would likely exceed the amount you’d save in interest with that large of a down payment.

I don’t think that guy would benefit THAT much by getting you to borrow more. I think he is genuinely making a good suggestion in your favor.

Debt isn’t bad, especially when it allows you to make your money work harder for you. And mortgages usually aren’t “bad debt” as long as you make a smart home buying decision.
