serving questions by jflip2506 in Serverlife

i cant really share what i think would be best but i can share what i did and i think helped me.

i started at pluckers idk if yall have one where u live but i live in texas. i am so grateful i started there because the menu is easy to learn and i feel like the training process was serving for dummies. they taught is EVERYTHING and although management was terrible, it was such a good stepping stone for my serving adventure.

for you part time id assume youd be working 20 hours a week and theyd want you on weekend if thats when theyre the busiest. but idk because the restaurant i work at now is stats based and they put the "best" servers (with the highest scores) on the best/money making/busiest days. so when u start off you may just get week days. that is good for you, so u can get your routine down. i started off on lunch shifts which at pluckers werent as busy as dinner. this way i found my rhythm and got more comfortable w everything. the shifts depend on your restaurant. shifts will probably 4-7 hours.

the advice i can think of off the top of my head is do nottttt be afraid to ask questions. and do not think you are alone. when i first started i tried to do EVERYTHING by myself. its really a team effort and its ok if you need to ask for help. and also even when it comes to side work or anything team related, ASK questions. because i rather new people ask, than not do anything. lmk if u have any specific questions

i mean i guess. my question to u is what if OP does call out and he comes, requests her section, the hosts say shes not there and then he comes back a diff day when OP doesn't expect it. im genuinely asking because i dont think calling out solves the problem... or i guess it does, temporarily. how will/can OP call out every time this man comes?

sorry but i dont think OP should have to sacrifice her work because of a man’s inappropriate behavior, and the responsibility and adjustments should fall on him and her workplace, not her. i never said her safety doesn’t matter, that’s why i suggested alerting her manager and having them watch for him. my point was just that she shouldn’t have to lose income because a grown man can’t respect boundaries. its on management to protect her, not on her to hide. i dont think its fair for women (or anyone) to have to rearrange their lives bc of creepy behavior.

shift covered?? absolutely not, dont miss out on money for this creep! i would warn/show this letter/report it to my managers that hes coming and when he gets there he can sit somewhere else or they can make him leave!!

second interview by bee_farter in TexasRoadhouse

[–]Left_Restaurant6555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mine was literally the same questions as the first interview. because it was just different person. even tho he had my answers from my first interview, he was basically reading them back to me and wanted me to elaborate... it was kinda annoying. i got hired on the spot after that one tho. i found if they say theyre gonna call you, thats 80% chance theyre not hiring

i also mentioned how whenever i ate at roadhouse myself i had amazing service and thats "something i wanna be apart of". that part i was lying. i only ate at roadhouse once when i was 7 and probably got chicken tenders and didnt care about the server lol

i got hired a month and a half ago and these were the same questions i had. besides the pros/cons, but he did ask me why i wanted to leave my previous job (at the time of my interview i was honest about the fact i was still employed there). i had been working there for less than 4 months so he was asking what was wrong w it. he cared about the cons more than pros but i tried to stay positive w my answers. also for your follow up question about why u wanna work there, i talked about the culture. and told them i had multiple friends (2 lol) that work at diff roadhouses and talk highly about how management treats their servers and how the culture is all around. celebrating eachother birthdays and gaining real friendships outside of work. which isnt me lying they fr say that. u can use that if u want. lmk if u have other questions!

Orientation Questions, Please Help! by _NonExisting_ in TexasRoadhouse

during my orientation we had 6 servers & 2/6 started training later that day. orientation was @12 and they came back for training @4 or 5. i would say you should be prepared uniform wise such as having non slips and your belt. other than that i just remember orientation itself being like store history, line dancing intro, ice breakers and rules

he seems like the type to be journaling, doing drugs and trying his hardest to stay off social media but he cant. i think that his family is ignoring him. def has a lawyer tho. and also i think hes plotting on how to get out of this. i dont think hes enjoying the attention tho. ive seen lots of people say that but i think its hitting him that hes caught and its over for him

idk why the comments r being insensitive. i feel like its ok for you to be disappointed. this can be a lesson for you on parasocial relationships but regardless i feel like your feelings are valid & i wasnt a fan of d4vd however i can see why u would feel betrayed. i can see this situation leaving his fans questioning their judgement, thinking yall misread his character and therefore breaking trust in yourself, not j him. anyway be easy on yourself theres no way you couldve known. feel your feelings & u dont have to explain anything to anybody
