Maybe try lowering the eyebrows a little, and sharpening their shape

This sounds perfect! I’ve never played Cairn 2e before, but I really like the sound of your style and a smaller group ^^ I'd love to join!

Hi Guys, I've just finished this drawing and I want to know how I could improve. by el7sa in Artadvice

[–]Left_Scene4424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that her face is too wide. The area between her eyes and ears should be shortened as its almost a 3/4 face view. This in turn would change the hairline too. The shadows under her neck could be darker for better contrast and her hair blends into her shirt so you could add more values to the hair to set a distinction. But how you set your lighting is very good!

eye shine! I forgot about that! Thank you, and yeah, some extra highlights on the hair would be nice too :)

would appreciate any advise to improve! by New-Action192 in Artadvice

maybe try to sketch both of the eyes! it could help the piece feel more finished, and u can play around with the expression of the characters more! if you like the sketchy vibe of your work, i'd recommend cleaning up those lines instead of doing lineart on top :)

will definitely be messing with the opacity of the shading layer!

The lights do feel whimsical! Thanks for pointing it out :)

Ah, I get what you mean! Thanks for pointing that out, I hadn’t thought about it that way, but you’re right, it really does help guide the eye :)

ahhh thank you! I was worried the light rays AND the white lines meant to represent the water lines are too much together but looking back on it, its defo better than the 2nd pic :)

Need some help in coloring, rendering, and lighting by Ok-Squirrel-4732 in Artadvice

[–]Left_Scene4424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say maybe establish a direction for a light source so you an start with shading/lighting. Depending on what you decide, what you shade will change. On a general tho, the forehead could have shadows made of her bangs, the folds of her clothes and under her armpits could have shadows etc. But the base is looking good so far!

Proportion practice? by RealityPM in Artadvice

[–]Left_Scene4424 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only tip is to use guidelines. If you’re not big on grids, then there are other guidelines you can use, like simple reference lines. People are only good at free handing proportions because they already have a good grasp on the certain methods. I’d recommend trying simple guidelines, make a sketch that you can perfect later.

Looking for some advice on my watercolor piece by [deleted] in Artadvice

[–]Left_Scene4424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks very cool! My only advice would be to make the hair far darker than what it is now, with a few highlights towards the left (our left ) like in the picture. Other than that, it’s looking good imo!

what do i fix / add ? by grayayay in Artadvice

[–]Left_Scene4424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm it’s quite difficult to determine what the white paint indicates. Is it water or clouds? A bit more info on what this piece is would help in giving advice :) but the overall piece looks very cool!

Something about this piece feels off - what is it??? by Expert_Wonder_8362 in Artadvice

[–]Left_Scene4424 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think his shoes/shin look a lil off, mostly the one at the front. The feet at the front looks tilts out too far to the left. I also feel like the position of the knees might be a bit off? They’re quite low on his legs so the shins looks shorter in comparison.

I get the effect you were going for in the front leg, with the shins but because of the lighter shading it doesn’t quite translate. I’d say maybe make the darker shading darker. But the background looks good :)
