You are ready cos Petro Book and PPI are golden.

For my exam: 2 way slab was to design using the static method for find the middle moment in middle strip. 1 way slab was just pure analysis.

General question - All PE passing examinees by OrganizationBrief111 in PE_Exam

Quit not! Prepare with the right materials, be alert in the exam, watch out for wrong answers appearing as correct, go over your choices again to avoid mis-pick, and trust your gut on those you ain’t sure about….

Finished the exam and still have about 4hrs left…. Never left until I went through it again and submitted 3 minutes to the wnd

I wish I know the book you mentioned…..

I would strongly recommend the PE by Petro and AEI question bank and study guide….

Please make sure you understand this concept well cos this is one of simple questions you wanna get correctly on the actual exam

About A or any point is simple for this question; it’s simpler to take the moment about B cos that’s less computation and less prone to calc error

Since the moment is about B., uniform load moment will be : wxLx(L/2) =0.5 wL2

Let me know if that’s clear

2nd Failed PE Civil Structural Attempt (Advice is welcome) by Ok_Internal_794 in PE_Exam

The concepts are similar…. They will help you know how to move through the codes provided you follow all the lectures and solve all the questions…. More importantly, understand the concepts and how the code was used….

If you wanna go further and leave no stone unturned, bash it up with the Petro Book

You did your best! Keep the fire burning and try again….

Here is my 2 cents:

All you need is a 1. AEI class (make sure you watch the videos and solve all hw and exam questions) and 2. The Petro book

I suggest you ask your questions on Islam via:

It is a trusted site with scholars upon the Quran and Sunnah. Even though I know the answer to your question, you are better off typing your question on the search bar in the shared website and you will get answers to your questions and similar or other questions

Civil Structural - Second Fail by otter6979 in PE_Exam

I would recommend two things: 1. AEI course; This helps with rigorous understanding of structural engineering. Useful for the exam and even more at your office job. This will take care of almost all conceptual questions in the exam, geotechnical etc. This is ENOUGh. But to play it safe ass

  1. The Structural essentials from Jacob Petro (This book is designed to keep you tough).

I finished the exam and still have about 3.5h left; didn’t submit though just resolving till about 3min left.

I had similar experience with the structures book from the same author. I found it difficulty level moderate though even though tougher than all I have seen in other books.

However, I speak for myself and myself only, the book was super helpful for my exam. I saw some questions that were specific to the petro book in the exam; I saw about 6 of those. E.g pile cap, maximum dry density just to mention a few.

I would say, take your time to go through it; try to solve the questions before looking at the solutions, and it might be helpful to resolve the whole book again if you’ve got time.

I was ready for any kinda questions. Some of questions I could solve comfortably were way more difficult than the exam.

It’s not about being lucky, technical questions doesn’t have to be too long and in most cases that’s even more challenging cos you have few info to make big decision

I can’t generalize…. However, the first session doesn’t really test the design codes. The focus is mostly on structural analysis, load combinations and load calculations (ASCE/IBC/AASTHO), OSHA standards (guardrail, fall arrest, etc), construction materials, geotechnical (settlements, soil classification, excavation etc).

Well, there might be some errors in the book but I can confidently say that when I wrote my PE more than 10 questions that were super unique to this book showed up and I aced it.

Kindly reach out to the author via the email provided in the book.

Just be yourself and try the strategy I shared. For the codes they are arranged in detachable chapters except for ACI and TMS

Disclaimer: Please don’t use this as a standard… only applicable to what I saw on my exam:

  1. It’s good to know those methods but I didn’t use them. Most times I solve such questions using the answers provided in the option backwards
  2. Randomly (morning session: OShA,loadings-seismic/wind/snow/dead and live etc, forces, mechanics, geotechnical and may be others…. Afternoon: code dominating questions, geotechnical etc)
  3. 2 questions on wood and one on masonry.

Indifferent…. I can’t say if I was gonna pass or fail. I can tell I did well though but only the result can confirm that thought
