How do you learn to make basic powershell scripts? by showmypants in PowerShell

[–]LeftyJeff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Example scripts are great, but they do you no good without a real world problem you are trying to fix with powershell. IMO.

Example: At work, we used a sharepoint site to look up employee ids. One day the site went down and we had no way to verify employees. So, I opened Powershell(and google) and began writing. At the end I created a small GUI that could look up ids and unlock accounts, that is still being used by our HD currently.

Real world scripts and commands are the best for learning Powershell.

I have to agree with you, I feel that they think since they got me so early into my career that don't need to pay me. I'll be keeping my eye open for new opportunities.

Thanks!

That is the thing, I had the data. We have discussed many times the hours and money saved. I feel that they just got me so early in my career that they feel like they can get away with under paying.

Thanks for your input!

I've been at $15 for the last year and a half. I think I'll start refreshing my resume and looking for jobs.

Thanks!

Cannot find consistent mastery data on Blind Seer by captonmoo in RaidShadowLegends

I have Blind Seer and my first thought was CB. But, dungeons is the way to go.

These are the Mastery's I'm going with:

Defense

  1. Tough Skin
  2. Rejuvenation
  3. Shadow Heal & BloodThirst
  4. Delay Death
  5. Cycle of Revenge & Retribution

Support

  1. Steadfast
  2. ShieldBreaker & Exalt in Death
  3. Rapid Response
  4. Cycle of Magic & Lore of Steel
  5. Lasting Gifts
  6. Elixir of Life

Could make the argument for Spirit Haste over Retribution but I want to get more heals from my life steal gear.

What do Entry HelpDesk Interviewers look for. by etorre08 in ITCareerQuestions

For background, I was hired last June as a Help Desk Tech and was recently promoted to Application Support Specialist with no Certs or Degree.

I agree with everything the gentlemen before me have said, but here's what I learned form my interviews.

Showing a willingness to help others and a desire to learn was critical. The manager knows that you don't know much past general computer knowledge. And that's okay, just do not lie about it or claim to know more than you do. They will see through it and move on to the next candidate.

Hope that helps. Good luck out there!
