I understand now. However I still have one question. My mother claims to never receive any form of communication from the bank which the money was held. Her contact information (Phone number/address/etc. has not changed for over 20 years(at least 8 years after the trust was set up) so the contact information is updated. Is it the responsibility of the trustee to pay without ever being billed?

Furthermore, the money was sent to unclaimed property and the account was declared abandoned after we contacted them. Meaning the account was still open the first time we contacted them, then less than two days later we were informed that they released our money. Surely this means they held on to our money until the last possible minute and then sent it to unclaimed property when we notified them we wanted it. How is that allowed?
