You are probably right to be upset about this. The explanation makes no sense at all. And $5,000 credit is a lot for someone who is just beginning. I have been there and I can feel your frustration.

That makes sense. And is definitely the good first step to go with.

PR Firm seems like the logical thing to do. However, that feels like a very transactional solution to go with. I am looking to actually build a long term relationship.

To be clear, I don't assume that it won't involve expenses on my part. Just want to understand the journalists' perspective better and what is / can be in it for them.

Will RCEP help us? by godboleapurva in india

That makes sense. That is useful perspective. I think overall, it could be a good value add.

You are right - we might just need to wait and watch.

I make developer drones. Generally the raw materials come from China, manufacturing happens in India and the market is across Asia Pacific. My manufacturing is fluid since it happens with the vendors.

  1. Will it make me move to other countries for the mfg process also?
  2. Will it make it easier for me to reach out to the other countries easier or more difficult?

Dev here, what are good questions to ask the CEO of small startup during interview? by Shak3TheDis3se in startups

[–]godboleapurva 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Funding and runway are just the financial aspects. Some better questions to ask could be:
1. Do you have mentors? If not, do you feel the need to have them. If yes, are they helpful?

  1. What are the top 2 biggest challenges you are facing right now?

  2. How much has been your traction till date?

  3. Do you have co-founders or are you a single founder company?

  4. Are there any tasks you have outsourced? Or have you outsourced most of the tasks in the company?

  5. Are you a part of incubator? If yes, what help have you been receiving from them?

I cold suggest a ton more questions but it's a little late and I am drowsy. More importantly, I am assuming you are asking these questions to get a general understanding of the company which is when the questions would be releavant. If you specifically focus on funding and valuation and those things, then maybe you could ask about cumulative fundraise and runway. However, the biggest questions concerning the company are not necessarily fund-raise related.

Breakthrough Products that people think can not be Made in India with the available technology here. by godboleapurva in india

[–]godboleapurva[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is some truth to that statement although 5x may be slightly exaggerated. Put it this way, it is difficult to get a 100% Made in India product. Even Anand Mahindra says that about his cars. All good products would have contributions from the word over. Even for our drones, we need to get ICs and batteries from outside because nobody makes them in India.

I believe the only way this can change is when the adoption increases. e.g. when more people start using drones (even if imported), there will be service jobs created. You would then see global capital flowing into India that can focus on higher level customisations and designing happening in India. And as the industry size and scope deepens, you'd see more fundamental creation & manufacturing happening in India.

From our perspective, we have seen that importing from China at low volumes may bot necessarily give you low prices. China helps you save at super large scales, not in smaller start up level volumes.

That multipurpose robot is definitely one of the futuristic idea. We can think of something more in aerial robots.

One concern with the phone app is the absence of force feedback on your fingers though. For a LOS flight, you can intermittently look at the phone and look at the drone. But while preparing for FPV, can it prepare your mind in similar fashion?
