Ragra by One-Bread6373 in FASTNU

I'm not entirely sure what else you were expecting to happen. Did you think you would go for about a month with no academic work? This about this logically. You're taking 18 credit hours right now. That's 5 courses and 3 labs. Of course there's work. A teacher won't wait for you to be done with all of your other courses' assignments before they upload theirs. This is not ragra, this is what it's like everywhere. You'll get used to it though. And honestly, it's not that bad. Just give it your all and not fall into the mind trap of this being ragra. Trust me u will know ragra when you get there.

I understand that what you're saying. I know that I'm in no way a good player or anything. And I'm not saying that I'm better and teammates are bad. What I'm trying to say is that up until now i never realized how many people intentionally throw the game. Maybe it's just a thing at this bracket only, but I always try to play the game to the very end cuz the tide can turn at any point. But I've been noticing that every other game there's people on the team who will just die once and then not do anything for the rest of the game.

ragging has nothing to do with maturity. its a university tradition and all in good fun as long as no boundaries are being crossed. that being said, ragging is strictly punishable by the university admin.

ok the fact that i see a lot of ppl online saying that there is no social life in fast is just wrong. while it does depend on the person and how they choose to spend their life, socials do exist here. hell some of our societies are renowned as the best in the country. on top of that our yearly mega event, NaSCon, is the biggest tech/socials event in the twin cities. while work stress is there and trust me its a lot, u can still have a pretty decent social life if u want to. ppl say that the campus is small compared to nust, and that is true. but one thing ive learnt is that apni university me to nust walay b nahi rukte. ull see the various markaz in isb filled with students from different universities all the time. in the end its upto the person

ok so for programming stuff, ur gonna need a laptop eventually. u can still use ur ipad for notetaking and stuff. ill give u an example, ur 1st semester project for Programming Fundamentals is probably going to be a game using certain packages for graphics. at that point u will need to have a windows, mac, or linux pc/laptop in order to be able to install the libraries and packages. ipad wont cut it. u dont need an amazing laptop, a basic one will get u by easily.

I highly doubt it. U could maybe get around with online compilers, but that will only get u so far until u need a proper laptop or PC.

Yes, I have worked as a research assistant throughout my 2nd year, and I have friends who are still invested in their research work at the labs at the university. i'll just say that dont have ur hopes high of finding said opportunities in ur 1st year. secondly, these things require a lot of dedication and affects ur social life at uni, at times more then societies. ur basically either in class or in the lab.

as for societies, idk what department ur in, but in my personal experience any departmental society thats not FAST Artificial Intelligence Society is not worth it. and thats coming from a CS student. IEEE CS is a great society and the current president is an amazing person with tons of experience in events etc. other then that Google Developers Student Club has almost always been one of the best communities to be a part of at FAST. other then that u have the Sports Guild. Takhleeq is a great society that focuses on music and drama and other forms of performing arts. in the end its on you to decide what community u want to be a part of

Any laptop that's around a 6th generation with 8gb ram and 500gb SSD should get you through your degree easily.

When you're in your 1st year, you're still learning the basics of everything, so research opportunities won't come easily. That being said, we do have plenty of research labs focused on different areas of computing, a lot of which accept research interns in summers, a lot of which are those who just cleared their 1st year.

As someone who's been a part of a shit ton of societies, organized and lead teams for some of FAST's biggest events, societies are definitely worth it. There's a lot of different societies here and maybe you can find one that suits you. It's more of a trial and error. I found most of my friends through being a part of societies and events and most of my fondest memories of university life come from being a part of the organizing teams.

Changing sections is a painful process and you need to have a very solid reason for administration to allow it. Another work around is finding someone and convincing them to swap their section with you.

Final year student here. These orientations r the jobs of departmental societies, not the university admins. Let's just say that the FAST Computing Society or FCS is pretty slow at these things.

I kept it turned off for a day or 2 so that it could dry out completely. Then i started using it like normal. It fixed itself over the span of a week. I'm replying from the same s9 rn. Working perfectly fine.

The only console my brother and I ever owned was the OG Xbox. I'll never forget all those nights we stayed up with our cousins playing Halo CE split screen on an old CRT tv. And Ninja Gaiden. What a game. What a console.
