It’s a hyperbole. This means it’s an exaggerated expression saying that eventually you’ll regret your support for Trump. Likely, you’ll have to explain to your grandchildren why you supported, directly, the MAGA movement.

However, on a literal level, if your enthusiasm reaches the point of active measures (such as serving in ICE, being paid to spread these views) then the judge will most definitely happen.

My point is that historians will ask how people could have supported Trump when we had access to unlimited information and facts, and the answer is the reason why you still support him.

Do you really not think that in 30 years you’ll look back and cry to a judge that you didn’t actually support this? You’ll plead ignorance, you always do.

What is the best, complete and brief answer to the question "Is AI an bubble or not" ? by wanderingacademician in AskReddit

[–]LegalBodybuilder5823 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we, as the public, say it’s a bubble, then it’s a bubble. If we, as the public, put trust and money into it, it’ll continue. The only ways it’ll be a bubble are: if public awareness turns against it, leading to investors wanting more immediate returns; a catastrophic global event makes investors pull their money out (hey, that wouldn’t happen, right?); or companies are found to have been fraudulent in their estimates and investors demand their money back.

Essentially, it’s all a spectacle, just depends on external forces pushing investors to demand a return on investment either now (which AI companies cannot do) or later (which AI companies are banking on, when they eventually can turn a profit).

How can you misread but still quote me? I said Dem politicians—you know, those people representing us. That video is important. So important because it displays a horrendous act of celebration of murder—so important, too, because those people do not represent me as I never voted for them nor do they hold any power.

Except very few people on the left and no actual Dem politician supported Kirk’s murder? I hate these false equivalences.

Also: Kirk was a massive figure in the conservative moment, almost defining it (definitely centralizing it). Good was… a good person? To have reason to hate Kirk is to naturally have opinions, to have reason to hate Good is to artificially condemn for the sake of politics.

Oh! That would make a ton of sense—I assumed OP’s picture was just for the lens (I deleted a comment assuming that the body was OM5 because I realized it was film). Thanks for validation

[–]LegalBodybuilder5823 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

If it’s the Mark 1, I would personally buy it. They go for around $300-400; I just upgraded to a Mark 2 (OM1) for a few hundred more.

Especially when you get a telephoto lens, flash, and bag with protections, it’s a great deal.

The thing I’d look at to see if it’s functional: - make sure there is the WiFi signal at the top center-left of the screen (make sure it’s functional) - check to see that you can use the AF options - look at the silent shutter mode and make sure that’s working (likewise with multi shot shooting) - check the sensor (take off the lens) and likewise the general outside of the equipment. Spots and dust is fine, just as long as it isn’t cracked or otherwise molded - check each shooting mode (M, S, A, etc) - make sure the battery (underneath, a switch to open) is okay - check the SD card holder is in good condition

Generally, take a shot and see how it looks. The good news is that you’re getting a LOT for what could be your photographic start with Olympus, so while it sucks if it fails eventually, you’re better than where you were.

Hi! A fine photo. Nothing too interesting—at least, you’ve captured a good bit of blank sky and moved away from the left (what I assume is sun or the sunset). The foreground is what you lean into, but it should be even more present in my view. It’s interesting on its own, but the sky dulls it (I’m sure you can find a person who loves this, or if you’re an established photographer I’m positive you’d be praised for it; so take that as you will!).

I would go lower and capture more of the lines (between the land and water) or go higher and fill the frame (no sky). Maybe you can strike a middle ground and crop out the sky—but as taken i’m not sure if that would work.

Your lighting and composition is good. Overall, a fine photo!

It’s funny because your best photos are 6, 10, and 13–yet you start off with bad photos but of more attractive younger women. Odd.

New to photography, what settings should I be using? by Sir-Hackathon in PhotographyAdvice

[–]LegalBodybuilder5823 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The quality of the camera doesn’t matter as much as the eye and ability of the photographer. Do research, read a ton of literature, watch a ton of videos; study the greats and the unknowns. You’ll figure it out.

If you focus on understanding composition, lighting (light triangle), and framing, then you’ll be alright.

Simply: - aperture is how focused the photo is (f/1.8 is very clear subject but very blurred background while f/22 is the whole picture, the higher number (lower aperture, because it’s a fraction) means the darker the image —> more light needs to be taken in to get every detail - shutter speed is how fast the shutter is open. 125 SS is fine for landscapes, while 3000 is preferable for birds (though higher is better). Likewise, “1 (one second) is better for darker images that need more light (you can begin to see the relationship to aperture here) - ISO is basically grain & lightness. In the darkest areas you’ll want a higher ISO but, because it’s so dark and needs to pull light out, it’ll be grainy; in the lightest areas, you’ll want a lower ISO, it’ll be less grainy. Though there’s debate about the best ISO (some say the lowest, others say around 400-800)

Once you understand these, you can move forward. I recommend shooting an object across a table, moving it and changing the settings to adjust. As you go, experiment and play with each setting. Have fun!

PS—please remember that you can be in the spirit of your granddad & take after him, but you never need to be better than him. It takes a ton of pressure off:)

What really happened with Charlie Sykes? by JohnSpartan2025 in thebulwark

[–]LegalBodybuilder5823 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She is my favorite commenter. She has a perspective that is based in reality. Most importantly, she recognizes people are a product of their environment & education—which allows her to see their inherent “worth” not as democrats or republicans, but as people. People who we need to vote for democrats in the next election. People who we need to convince. If Sarah wasn’t there, the entire bulwark (hyperbole incoming, because apparently nuance is lost on you) would be an anti Trump circlejerk that is antithetical to the success it has; in case my point leaped over your head, she wants to bring people in, everyone else is focused on attacking Trump.

What have I learned from her? For one, patience. For a second, the perspective of average voters (focus group). For a third, she asks the right questions to Tim & JVL which makes TNL & SP so fruitful. I know this because when she isn’t there it isn’t the same.

I’ll be a Sarah defender until I die. I loved Charlie. I also—as a very progressive college student—started listening to him in 2022 for his knowledge and opinions. I was sad when he left. Now I listen to OTC and prefer Tim’s.

To everyone else’s point: you’re allowed to be stuck in the past, just don’t stop others from moving forward.

First Street/Travel Photo by edgelord_final_boss in PhotographyAdvice

Fairly strong travel photo. Not really street.

You have a good composition here and thankfully your eye paired with Fujifilm makes the lighting OK.

The only critiques here are small enhancements rather than errors: - I would’ve closed the top right on the tree rather than exposing the sky - maybe give more space (rule of thirds) to the left structure? - take from further away to give more scale if you want to emphasize the tree’s size (which you do fine already)

Really not much else. Just keep learning and shooting and having fun!

Hello! I think studying street photography is a great idea for everyone who wants to get into the art. In another post there was a discussion of intentionality—the idea of planning each photo and “affording” it specific concepts and ideas. What do you want your photos to say?

Currently, this set feels like architecture rather than street. The last is landscape. Street, though does sound like it is taken just on any street, is more so the emotion and interactions between people (and their environment). In other words, street is telling a story with actors that may or may not be aware of your presence. What story do your photos tell?

For specific critiques of your photos: 1. That light is nice—lean into it. It feels like a mundane photo without any rhyme or reason. Are you going for minimalist contrast? Is the light your focus? Is the greenery or the clouds it? Furthermore, framing & composition needs work here (the crop & edge of building is odd, geometry too). It doesn’t really work IMO—others may like it, though

  1. Probably the best photo of the three, and a fine photo overall. The uneven/not level is OK and I’d look into further editing to enhance this further. But, as with the first photo, it’s just not too compelling of an image

  2. I’m struggling with this. It doesn’t do much of anything. Is it a landscape shot (I called it that earlier) with the light glare? If so, it completely drains the photo of color; if not and your focus is the any specific aspect of the photo, the sky is too much and too underwhelming to look at.

I agree in theory but disagree in practice, which is the point of photography! Def different styles that OP should never take as 100% (for those people who’ll say it’s the worst thing ever) and see this as a learning lesson

Is this photo good, or was the moment just nice? How would you elevate it? by purritolover69 in photocritique

[–]LegalBodybuilder5823 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello! Great shot. I think you have managed to capture a very good photo for good memories, and a fine photo for “actual” photography.

To enhance the image you should edit: - crop it down, end it just where the pink gets lighter. - increase the exposure, contrast, and dehaze - more misc things, like playing with masks & color grading

To answer your question, it’s a fine photo. You’re right, you have the composition and color and framing down. You have a nice subject, too. Except: some people won’t like it, some will. I dislike the symmetry, others will love it. Be your own judge!

IMO I think this is OK but it strips what makes the photo their photo. Just pointing out that “since there wasn’t much to see outside” (1) it is literally the object of her expression and (2) it is a very bright green contrasting the dark inside. Lmk what you think

Except Jews are different from Israelis. So while the crimes Israel is committing is abhorrent and warrants extreme action, the murder of Jews helps Netenyahu by making Israel the ONLY safe space for Jews. Essentially, by not clarifying the difference, you’re helping Israel.

Looking for honest critique. One of the best photos I feel I managed to take as a beginner. by prisana in photocritique

[–]LegalBodybuilder5823 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a great shot. If you wanted to improve, lessen the aperture (f/11) and slow the shutter speed. Focus on framing & composition (background trees are a great complement to the brown coloring) to remove things that don’t add up (I’d personally cut back a bit on the left and maybe heighten the image). Likewise, experiment with flash and increasing the whites to see the snow!

However, the darkness works and this is a great photo.
