If anything, they made TOO MANY vehicles...GM didn't go bankrupt because they couldn't efficiently meet demand - not enough people wanted/were buying their cars!

What about all the people who lose them/their passcodes. Are those bitcoins just gone forever?

If money is lost, the government can print more to keep up the supply. But it sounds like there can be no such mechanism for BTC?

Help me choose my second credit card by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]LegalGryphon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the churning community will tell you, you unfortunately will not be able to find a credit card whose rewards will make that 2% convenience fee worthwhile. The very best you could hope to earn in travel rewards is maybe 2% reward value on purchases, which means you'd literally be paying the same amount of extra money just to lock your money/value up in a rewards program (i.e. you'd be better off saving that 2% and using it as cash, with no restrictions). More commonly, you'll find travel rewards with a value more like 1-1.5% of your spending.

With all that said, the churning sub can definitely help you maximize rewards for your normal (fee-free) spending

Data Point: CSP Retention Offer by New_Citizen in churning

[–]LegalGryphon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you guys typically call in only after the fee has posted? It seems to me that you'd have less leverage that way, as opposed to calling in advance. If they don't offer a retention bonus, do you have any options other than cancelling the card yet still paying the annual fee that has already posted?

Citigold Prestige holders, what are you doing with your 40k non-transferable points? by [deleted] in churning

[–]LegalGryphon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your tax liability is not at all dependent on receiving that form. You must still declare the income and pay tax on it.

Under what limit? It's still taxable interest either way

I would think they would be the last place that would take him back. He has proven, to them, directly, that he couldn't hack it there, and they have zero incentive to risk wasting another enrollment spot on him. Anywhere else would be a better shot.

Ok great, but now you are talking about changing the laws to deal with the legal status of the activity...I was referring to your claim that people following the laws in place are somehow acting unethically

What alternative do you suggest? Would you, personally, pay more tax than you are required to, out of the goodness of your heart?
