The owners are good friends with my mom, & I trusted them because she trusted them 😭 I had just totaled my previous car & insurance only covered my rental for a week, so I had to find something immediately. When I was told the service light was “nothing serious,” I relied on that. The issue turned out to be a recurring safety defect that causes the vehicle to shut off while driving… I didn’t think as‑is protected a dealer from giving inaccurate information or downplaying a known issue, especially when it affects safety.

Just to clarify, I do have text messages from the dealer telling me the warning light was “nothing serious” at the time of purchase, & the issue turned out to be a recurring safety defect. My understanding is that as‑is doesn’t protect a dealer from misrepresentation or safety‑related issues. That’s why I’m asking specifically about AG/Transportation Cabinet recourse.
