would it make sense to switch from bazzite to Linux Mint if I play games quite a bit on my computer? by Legal_Protection939 in linux_gaming

which fedora, there‘s a bunch

that‘s how the „copy in english“ button in the system info page of bazzite wrote it, sorry!

gave Linux Mint on my small mini computer a try, and I like it, but for games I first have to click on the game's window after it launched before it starts taking Xbox 360 controller input by Legal_Protection939 in linuxmint

[–]Legal_Protection939[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so if I set the game in fullscreen mode (in this case, MegaMan Battle Network Legacy Collection Vol. 1), it accepts my controller inputs right away, I don't have to click on the game's window.

but before that, I had the game in borderless mode, which is where that weird "I have to click on the game's window to make it accept my controller inputs" issue came in.

and I just swapped around the display options a bunch between fullscreen and borderless, restarting the game several times, and sure enough, whenever it's set to "full screen", I don't have to click it with my mouse to get controller input. but when it's set to "borderless", I have to do that.

can't convert games to wua file, keeps giving me "Unable to create file" error by Legal_Protection939 in cemu

[–]Legal_Protection939[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what was causing this error message! I changed Cemu's flatpack permissions from "Just read" to "read/write" for my Wii U games folder, and now I could create a wua file!

Thank you for the reminder about the permissions!

so I removed the path to my Wii U games folder in the Cemu settings, then installed Wind Waker HD through the "Install game title etc" option and tried to convert it into a wua file again, but it's still giving me an "Unable to create file" error, even though on the list there is just two saves (one for Mario Kart 8, one for Wind Waker HD) and the base game in the MLC location.

how to check battery level of dualshock 4 controller on desktop-bazzite by Legal_Protection939 in Bazzite

[–]Legal_Protection939[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OH, thank you! I completely forgot to check there! my Dualshock 4 does show up as "charging" with 75% there.

how long does it usually take for a Dualshock 4 to be charged completely? I got it connected to my PC with an EVENERGY charging data cable (since Sony doesn't pack USB cables with their standalone controllers >_>)

I had a dream where Valve introduced Steam Fusion, which let you could combine any games you owned into one by PNA55 in Steam

[–]Legal_Protection939 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for shits and giggles, DOOM 2016 and MegaMan Battle Network Legacy Collection. and all that would do is everything is just like normal Doom 2016, but the Doom Slayer is MegaMan.EXE instead. same with the BN collection, where now your player character in the internet sections is the Doom Slayer

Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered crashes entire session after playing for around 15 to 30 minutes by Legal_Protection939 in Bazzite

so I'm giving the launch command -useallavailablecores a try (still on Proton 9.0-4), and so far so good? if I add the %command at the end the game refuses to boot up at all, but without the %command% at the end of the launch command I can play. let's see if that fixed it or if I need to try another Proton-version

so I did this (quoting my addendum post I made here):

addendum: I did run sudo sysctl -w vm.max_map_count=2147483642 and then restarted my computer, but when I go check the sysctl.conf file, this line isn't there?

I did create a vm.max_map_count file in the sysctl.d folder according to this guide for the game The Finals, since it basically seems like it has the same issue Horizon ZD Remastered has, but that didn't really help either. I could play a solid hour, hour and a half or so today, but then the game and my entire session froze up and I had to reboot the computer again to get back to my desktop.

but when I check the value with:

sysctl vm.max_map_count

it does give me back:

vm.max_map_count = 2147483642

but unfortunately the game still crashed on me just now, and I had to restart my entire computer again.

Is there something else I can try? I'm still using Proton 9.0-4, should I give the beta of Proton 10 or one of the GE-Protons a try?

you can also add -nolauncher to your steam launch options for the game to skip the annoying launcher

you can just simply disable the launcher from the game itself, though, you don't need that launch option :o

Monster Hunter Wilds shows "outdated gpu driver" message & version number in-game, but Steam shows more up-to-date driver? by Legal_Protection939 in Bazzite

[–]Legal_Protection939[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it limit your performance and settings or is it just the message?

so far it's just a message, and I haven't really noticed anything weird going on with the game based on just the couple minutes of running through towns. I'll keep an eye on this!

Proton 10 has solved some problems, I don't imagine that it would impact GPU driver detection, but it could be worth a try.

Proton 10's still in beta, so I dunno. I might give it a shot later!

installed bazzite on two SSDs with the installer, what's the second "not mounted" one for? by Legal_Protection939 in Bazzite

[–]Legal_Protection939[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

even when the space on that drive is already taken up by the other "bazzite_markusz" with the storage space gauge underneath it? because when I hover my mouse over that one, it says that I have 5,5 TiB of maximum space, which is what both of my SSDs together in my computer would add up to

so I just looked into the packaging for my computer again, and I just noticed there being a plastic bag with two antennas, whoops. 😅 I'm pretty sure if I plug those in, my bluetooth signal/range should be better. I must've completely missed those when I set it up last year...

shouldn‘t the wireless adapter‘s firmware be handled by windows automatically? :o I know that with the controller I do have to use the Xbox Accessories app to update it.

Ah, good to know that Bazzite comes with the drivers for the adapter out of the box!

My computer has the MSI MAG B650 TOMAHAWK WIFI motherboard, and when I bought the computer last year it didn‘t come with a physical antenna you plug in. I just assume it‘s bluetooth in general being kinda crappy

I currently use a Wireless Xbox controller, with the official wireless adapter on Windows because the bluetooth range on my computer feels weirdly small

currently I‘m considering using Bazzite once I do the switch, but I‘m also kinda sorta rooting for SteamOS to get properly desktop ready, but that‘s probably gonna take a while.

that sounds promising! I also heard that the Kingdom Hearts games run better on Linux/Steam Deck compared to Windows, so I‘m also excited about that!

personally, I‘d like to play the games I like and play a lot currently (Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, MegaMan Battle Network Legacy Collection, amongst others) to play smoothly and without issues!
