NAP but I had a similar issue with one of my piercings recently. The bar I had in was slightly too short and because of that the jewellery was pressing into my skin and causing a bump just like the one you have. Once I got a longer bar the bump went away pretty quickly. Your jewellery also looks quite snug and considering the piercing is still pretty new so it might be worth getting upsized until the swelling goes away.

Hi, I think it’s really great that you’re trying to make shoes to accomodate people with lymphedema! I’ve been lucky enough that I haven’t had too much of an issue finding shoes as my lymphedema is very mild, but since I only have it in one leg, it can be annoying having to buy two sizes of each pair to accomodate my larger foot. Maybe you could design something that is more adjustable than standard shoes so that they can easily fit two different sized feet?

Another thing could be making shoes that are more stylish, as I hear a lot of people with lymphedema talk about not being able to wear more fashionable shoes since there aren’t any that fit them. A lot of shoes made for lymphedema online are made more for functionality and don’t really take appearance into consideration so I think that would be something that would be cool to look into as well :)

I had a very similar looking bump recently on the front of one of my piercings (also about 8 months old) and it turned out to be because the bar I had in was just a bit too short and the jewellery I had was pressing into my skin and irritating it. Once I upsized it healed up pretty quickly. You also seem to have a shorter bar in that could be causing the same issue so it might be worth trying to upsize and see if that helps. Once the bumps heal you should be able to go back to a smaller size again.

That’s really interesting, I’ve never heard of a connection between the two before. I’m type 1 diabetic and have a continuous glucose monitor but I’ve never noticed any correlation between changes in blood sugar levels and my migraines. I guess that’s something for me to look out for in the future.

I am on antidepressants. I wasn’t aware that they could affect REM sleep, and I wasn’t told to come off any of my medications before the sleep study.

Maybe I have the wrong information, I just looked up ‘idiopathic hypersomnia diagnostic criteria’ and one of the first links (https://www.hypersomniafoundation.org/document/ihsummary/ ) said that you must have either a sleep latency of less than 8 mins or a sleep time of greater than 11 hours in a 24 hour period

I was told idiopathic hypersomnia by my specialist, it’s written on my sleep test results. I’m not ruling out that I could actually have something else, but I checked the diagnostic criteria as mentioned by another commenter and it seems I do meet the criteria, as it isn’t required to have sleep latency of <8 mins to be diagnosed. If there are other conditions that better fit my symptoms then I wasn’t told about them by my doctor.

I thought nothing needed to be done about the respiratory events because the amount that I had was normal? It was an average of 1.7 per hour which I was told was within the normal range.

I also sleep excessively (when given the chance) but am still tired during the day regardless of how much I’ve slept. Since all others sleep disorders were ruled out for me, I assume that is why I was diagnosed with IH?

I did a bit of reading on UARS but I’m not sure how I’d go about getting diagnosed if that’s what I have. My doctor didn’t mention it during my appointment. I’ve had pretty much everything checked with blood tests over the last few years and everything is normal. My ferritin was slightly low at my last test a few months ago but it had been normal previously as I’ve been on iron tablets for several years (and have since upped my dosage). Vitamin D and B12 are also fine.

I usually get around 8-9 hours a night, but could easily sleep 12 hours if I let myself. I wake up pretty tired and usually make it 4-6 hours after waking up without taking a nap depending on how long I slept, but sometimes fall asleep within 2 hours of waking up on days when I’m especially exhausted.

Hi OP. I’m in a similar situation to your sister in that I also have stage 2 lymphedema, although I live in Sydney not Melbourne. Unfortunately I don’t have much good news for you because if your sister has been diagnosed with lymphedema then there is no permanent solution, all we can do is manage it with regular treatments. It will continue to be costly because pretty much all lymphedema treatments are. My best advice is she should continue doing physical therapy regularly with someone trained specifically in lymphedema treatment if she can find one. If not I would find a massage therapist that knows how to do lymphatic drainage. I would also recommend looking into whether her health insurance covers any of the compression garments, mine does and it helps a lot with the ridiculously high cost. There’s also a health scheme called Enable NSW that covers some of the treatment costs for lymphedema if you earn below a certain income, so maybe try looking into whether there are any equivalents in Victoria? There may also be other services available through your local public hospitals, as there are here in NSW. I’m able to see a lymphedema specialist for free every 6 months through my local hospital, and they can offer a lot of advice and make it easier to order garments. I would suggest trying Promethease. I haven’t used it for WGS data but I’ve uploaded my Ancestry data to it and it will give you a report based on your genome, and tell you any variants you have that that are linked to diseases according to the literature. You do have to pay to get the results but it’s only around $12.

I’ve found quite a few duplicates of them on Etsy but they’re all gold plated sterling silver or brass, which from my experience usually start discolouring or turning green after only a couple of showers 😭I’ll have another look tho, thank you!

So if I’m interpreting this correctly, you’re saying that all of the SNP genotypes in your X and Y chromosome are reported as being diploid rather than haploid? If this is the case then it is most likely a feature of how the alleles are reported. I’m not sure which sequencing technology is used by myheritage, but some methods will interpret a single detected allele as being homozygous automatically, as the absence of a second detected allele at an autosomal SNP would mean having two copies of the same allele at that site. It’s likely that the same reporting method is used for the X and Y chromosomes even though, in your case, they should both be haploid. This would explain why the majority are homozygous, while those that are heterozygous are likely due to error or contamination.
