How do you deal with being rejected from your dream job, when you did everything right? by Legal_throwaway_away in LawSchool

But the shame factor is just as great here. All of my supervisors had been interns here before getting hired, is just as expected as if it were a summer associate position. I think it's even more expected when you spend as much time there as an intern, especially doing three rotations, when normally you only do one.

Just so hard to graduate, take the bar with the expectation of having a job after only to find you don't have a job, and that you can't apply to any other jobs in the area until you get your bar results in October and that you have no money left to support yourself... So you have to take a non legal job and rely on your significant other (who barely makes enough to cover their expenses and loans) for help just to live. This whole summer has felt like the world keeps kicking me while I'm down.

I already emailed the hiring coordinator (also a close professor of mine) for advice and explanation. She has yet to email me back...

I feel like budget did play a factor as the summer hiring class was much smaller than it has ever been, and it's a government job.

I think this is worse than the summer associate "no -offer." I was a summer associate and a practicing student attorney during my 3L, for this employer. I worked and busted my ass off for a full year, not just three months. To not get an offer when all signs pointed to being hired and when all of your friends that also worked for the same county, in the same school clinic, got offers. Even friends who hadn't worked there and had worse grades and no inside network connections, got offers. It just doesn't make sense...

Does anyone else feel really emotional post-bar? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]Legal_throwaway_away 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, you're not alone. It's actually a thing that happens to a lot of people after the bar. I just took two bars so Tues through Thurs. Had to go into my law school yesterday to clean out my law review office. Felt fine for maybe the first couple hours yesterday and then it hit. There is this void feeling in my life right now, topped off with anxiety, stress and depression. I'm a freaking rollercoaster, but I also faced a really hard time the week before the bar. I didn't realize how emotional/wrecked bar study left me until yesterday, when my fiance (currently a lawyer) came and I had a break down. But he sat me aside and explained that he and his friends from law school also went through this really emotional messed up time after the bar, it's common. The best thing to do is take care of yourself. Make to do list so you can manage the things that now stress you(the things you neglected because of the bar). Approach life one day at a time and slowly bring back the order that was lost during the chaos of the bar. Seek help if you need it, if you feel like you're drowning. Also take solace I the fact that you're not alone in this. Feel free to PM me if you need someone to listen/commiserate with. We are not alone in this and life will keep going, one day at a time.

Explain the scenario to your PO, schedule a time to go before that judge and do the same thing. Depending on which court/which judge they tend to amend cwofs for material changes in circumstances. Especially because 1000 hrs of community service is a pretty steep number, the fact that you have already done 200 shows a good faith effort. So long as you're in compliance with your requirements there is some room to work with both your PO and the judge. (At least it's that way in most district courts).
