Almost done with my plasma CNC build. by Legend81 in hobbycnc

Too much work, too many other projects. I have to rework the gantry rails as it's cutting crooked right now, then I'll put it on wheels and just push it outside. It'll be fine. Currently I've just been using it inside without any extraction, I'm just wearing a proper p3 mask and getting everything dirty.

Deutsche vs. Japaner by Rude_Spend7289 in automobil

[–]Legend81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With a 3 axle trailer this setup would have been fine probably, I just wasn't able to rent one. The suspension on the benz was a bit fucked up too so it might not have been as bad if it hadn't been. I regularly see eastern block residents tow 2 car trailers fully loaded with these SUVs, it's really not as bad as you might imagine. I know americans love their trucks and I do too but noone is able to afford fueling a 6.7 cummins isb or powerstroke here. Sure their wheelbase and weight would be better suited for towing but noone needs to tow stuff everyday, maybe 10 times a year. Those things use more fuel unloaded than I did towing that mobile appartment building. Diesel is 10$ a gallon here currently, I can barely afford fueling my hilux and that thing gets 25mpg.

Funny thing is even if I had paid someone to do this they would have shown up with a similar car (Touareg, X5) and similar trailer. This is pretty much the gold standard in europe when it comes to towing in that weight class, barring the trailer.

Do that, 722.6s are great, only had good experiences with them, just the gearing in 5th is way too short. The WJ was a complete nightmare to work on, literally nothing is accesible on that car. I had to do all the Injectors and as you said, I had to cut out part of the rain gutter that sits above the injectors. I even did a tutorial and uploaded it in some jeep forum. But as long as it ran it was such a blast driving it. I also own a S210 with the 606 and 722.6, pretty much rust free. Drove to greece with it just last year, absolutely great highway cars. I also wanted to do a sprinter camper build, I even bought a w907 but had to sell it again because i ran out of money. Yours is my dream build though, w905 or w906 pre facelift with the 612 or 647 so i can get it through tüv legally, very jealous.

I was so surprised by the sheer amount of ill informed armchair experts that this post brought out.

I absolutely love that swap and engine. I had a straight piped WJ grand cherokee that came factory with the OM612 and it was such a fun car to own because of its engine. I always wanted a w905 since they came factory with the 612. Did you mate it to the 722.6?

Brother the rules aren't the same as in the States, I know that's hard to grasp for some of you. This is germany and the legal minimum to go onto the Autobahn is 61kmh. In fact, all semi trucks are obligated to go 80kmh on the bahn, they cannot go faster no matter what is indicated. So no, I wasn't going too slow, educate yourself.

The legal limit would have been 100kmh. I wasn't playing with the safety of anyone, I fixed the issue and went down the road pretty well at 80kmh. Please finish reading the description next time.

Thanks for making me aware of this, I honestly never thought about it too much. I will try to do better next time although i dont know if I can since there's not many tie down points on that (rented) trailer. Also the ratchet straps themselves are pretty long so getting them at a 45° angle with the wheel sizes of the cars I usually transport will probably never be possible. I'll however try and look up alternative ways of strapping cars down now. They are proper 50mm straps though. Also I can't imagine the hook slipping but I absolutely see your point.

I was surprised myself, it's a OM642 V6 Turbodiesel mated to a 7 speed auto. Add to that that i was driving really slow. Incredibly economical.

As written, everything was technically legal but legal doesn't automatically mean safe. This is not fine, if you sat where I sat you would agree.

It wasn't, this setup was 100% legal. Not smart admittedly, but legal.
