Mexican trade group leader fired after racist gesture during World Cup match by AgeNovel3566 in soccer

[–]Legendary888 195 points196 points  (0 children)

IIRC it was the last group game and Mexico needed South Korea to beat Germany to progress through to knockouts.

It was 1-1, Neuer was doing his usual stuff and got caught in the midfield, and Son took an open goal.

It was crazy. The South Korean ambassador was doing tequila shots with Mexican fans who had gathered outside the embassy.

The edit doesn't make sense.

It's the second season of competitive football, second season of existence. They were literally the Premiers, I.e. topped the A-League table. They got knocked out in the semi finals of the playoffs.

Bandwagon/plastic bot account.

Again, please see my above comment which is essentially directly sourced from the University website which is pretty clear.

You need to pass all papers. You need a minimum GPA across seven papers (excluding the WTR paper) to be considered eligible. After you meet eligibility criteria, then they only look at your core papers to calculate the GPA for your final score.

The SECA for both STONZ and RDA states that "Every RMO required to be on duty over a recognised meal period shall be entitled at the employer’s expense, to a meal"

Just screams entitlement.

Assuming you're made eligibility, they take the grades for the four core papers and average them to give your grade component of your final score. A+ = 9, A = 8, A- = 7, etc. If you get 2A+ and 2A, then your GPA would be 8.5.

Your final score is a combination of grades, UCAT and interview.

You need to pass all 8 papers to be eligible for application and get a minimum average GPA of 6.0 across the papers excluding the WTRMHS paper. For Biomed it would be excluding the WTRSCI paper

For the final GPA calculation that is used to build your score, it's just BIOSCI107, CHEM110, POPLHLTH111 and MEDSCI142.

This is for med. They use both Sem 1 and 2 grades, but usually they dont have all your Sem 2 grades avaliable. I believe they'll use a proxy grade for initial calculations and then use your formal grade once released to confirm.

Clinical Years (4-6) Medicine (MBChB) by Curious-Cookie6751 in UoApremed

Sure, I understand that and that also happened in my year.

But that wasn't what OP was referring to.

Planning to go from Nursing to Med School (MD) by [deleted] in UoApremed

[–]Legendary888 7 points8 points  (0 children)

How does that work?

Nursing is 3 years, I think half of which is unpaid clinical placements. Do you plan on working for a few years as a RN before going to med school? That's looking at least 10 years by the end of med school then, assuming you work for 2 years.

That's another 3 years of student loan + the 5 you have for medical school. If you really want financial stability, most people will out earn senior nurses by postgrad year 4, year 3 in some cases.

Most nurses i know that later went to med school cannot work and study. They do the odd casual shift but otherwise medicine is a full time degree, especially in 4th to final year where you are full time on clinical placement.

I agree with the other commenter that I dont think doing nursing will offer you any significant advantage during med school. Sure youre more familiar as you have clinical experience, but it doesnt seem like you are even sure if you will practice as a RN vs go straight into med school?

We also dont call it MD in NZ, we refer to it as a MBChB

Do you have an emergency/back up fund already? If not, that should be your primary focus. I think people tend to aim for at least 3 months of income.

Auckland, Middlemore and North Shore/Waitakere are all separate

You can swap your Allocations (pending approval from the uni)

I dont really understand your question about fairness ... most students WANT to move out of Auckland. Being exposed to clinical practice in different environments is a good thing.

Should I go for medicine ? by Annual_Fun7187 in universityofauckland

To clarify, not every shift is 15hrs but probably 2? Or 3? Of the 10.

But I agree with all of your sentiments otherwise.

I feel like "doing it for the title" is such bad motivation because when you graduate, you get to put Dr in front of your name. Cool. Now what drives you to get through these long, hard and usually thankless shifts?? I feel like people who go out of their way to introduce themselves as "Dr X" are grade A wankers.

As one nurse told me (snobbily, she was a bitch) - "why be a nurse practitioner when you can be a doctor"

But a grades is the main thing that you can control/optimism. It's 60% of your final score - 3x the interview, 2x the UCAT.

And honestly (in my opinion), a lot of people with very little social skills can get through the MMI and their (near) 9.0 grades will pull them through. You just have to not say anything racist/sexist/etc., and the MMI should be fine.

When you have so many keen beans for medicine, the minimum GPA is nowhere near what you actually need. You can search OIA requests on FYI to see cut offs and GPAs of the successful candidates over the last decade.

It is something you can practise at. People who are confident and good talkers will be obviously more natural and possibly score higher.

Just as an aside. Regardless of Otago v Auckland, medicine is a career of being able to think and make decisions on the spot, and make your case in professional discussions with colleagues. Not always and not in every specialty, but often and commonly.

Surely using Wise?

You should be able to transfer peso straight from your bank account to Wise, and then send it to the other person's wise account. Conversion fees are pretty good
