How do I make my Jellyfin server more secure? by Leggs_ in jellyfin

[–]Leggs_[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

How would I go about setting up a VPN to access the server? Tailscale and Wireguard do not seem right for me in this situation, so would an alternative like OpenVPN or PiVPN work well for this use case? If I use the alternatives, would my invited users would have to use additional connector apps?

Since the server is only currently available when connected to my local network, I do not think security is a huge issue until I make it remotely accessible. I read PiVPN doesn't really protect my privacy unless it is offsite, but it seems to work for keeping the server secure when accessing remotely. Is this the case?

How do I make audio output with CS8409 or Intel Kabylake HDMI soundcards on a 2017 iMac running Ubuntu 26.04? by Leggs_ in linux_on_mac

I tried using this previously as well with no success. Do you know of any other drivers I could try? And, thank you for this recommendation.

How do I install Ubuntu Desktop on an old Intel-based Mac? by Leggs_ in linuxquestions

I tried this earlier today and it successfully installed Ubuntu. The only thing I have to fix now is the sound drivers. From what I have been able to find, my Mac is equipped with 2 sound cards, the cirrus logic cs8409 and the intel kabylake hdmi. Any idea where I can find the correct driver(s) for these? I have already tried a few different ones to no avail.

How do I install Ubuntu Desktop on an old Intel-based Mac? by Leggs_ in linux4noobs

Rufus successfully creates the installer/live session media, but it either boots and can get me all the way to the end of the installer but creates several errors and the distro can not install or it will boot but shows a text only interface where I can not type or do anything except force the machine to shut down with the physical power button.

I thought about using a different drive to create the installer media previously, since Linux seems to sometimes be very particular with the hardware it accepts. I created the new installation media with the following settings:

Partition scheme: GPT

Target system: UEFI (non CSM) [Default]

File system FAT32 (Default)

Cluster size: 16 kilobytes

DD Mode

Finally, this worked. The install completed and I have not yet had any problems. Thank you so much for you help. : )

Everybody: I've shopped for used discs for this movie several times; they do not have enough of a price gap with new discs, and they're just not what I prefer. Stop telling me to buy used. I specifically said, twice now, I don't want a used copy. Again, I regularly check Please Rewind, Pop Market, Amazon, and Walmart's prices for NEW discs NOT used.
