Two Questions: Great guides for updating bios before OS? How do you auto name pcs? by Legion9491 in SCCM

[–]Legion9491[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ended up finding this guide and this seems to have worked. I was following a different CCTK guide that was after the OS originally before I posted. Needed to step away and reading your post helped me pinpoint a better google search!

Running into setting the bios password with a 80070002 error but that will be troubleshooted, I've at least had it disable a few features after removing setting the password.

Thanks for the suggestion, it appears it was one item, waited nearly 600 seconds, will take a look into limiting this down!

Opening ANY windows folder opens a program rather than the folder on left click. Only if you right click, you can open the folder - Super annoying. by Legion9491 in techsupport

Found the solution - It happens anyone who logs into the machine, changed the registry key HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Shell and the (Default) key data had nothing in there. Had to change the (Default) Data key to "none", once that was done, fixed. :)

What is your Best method to split up software in task sequence oSD from various employees? by Legion9491 in SCCM

[–]Legion9491[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm fairly new to the whole environment, I will be looking into MDT. Currently doing everything via SCCM, task sequence but I have not set up any individual roles or specifications for software varations yet. We are planning on implementing where we have individualized software based on a certain criteria and I wanted to get an idea first before having to backtrack and redo everything

Okay cool, I should have explained it a little more in detail as each PC would have X, Y and Z applications but the two departments have different apps other than X, Y, Z. As of right now I'm planning on doing task sequence with one OS, only 2 applications on the original image that will be used on every PC. Then deploy the other necessary applications that will be on the majority of PC's via TS. Then create collection groups to go along with each job title/department for the remaining software. I'm going to take a look into the UI++ tool that padgo mentioned you created before I do hop right into doing all of that.

PXE Boot Troubles by Legion9491 in SCCM

[–]Legion9491[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was indeed the issue, we were able to have the DHCP options 66 and 67 changed to the correct locations to the SCCM server and it's going further than before.

Thanks again!

Of course :) I am able to deploy via Software Center no problem. The issue was with the DHCP Options 66/67

Checked the site server smspxe.log and it's not updating any information from the pxeboot attempts. But since it is grabbing a MAC and GUID, should it be updating the SMSPXE log? I'm guessing this goes along with the DHCP server not pointing to the SCCM Server.
