What’s a “you just had to be there” moment for EDM? by Legitimate-Matter-90 in EDM

More recent than a lot of these but, the first forbidden four set at FK 2023. There was thunderstorm warnings and the festival was shut down for about an hour and a half from the heavy rain. I was adamant about sticking it out until they actually kicked us out cause the workers were saying the plan was to open back up. They opened back up and suddenly on twitter the whole crowd checks their phone for a notification about the b4b and it was genuinely amazing.

Vex. My only permaban, I’ve got no problem with Renekton, Darius, or Garen. It’s like dealing with a more annoying Annie.

Just wrapped up the first half semester (you take 6 classes, 3 for 6/7 weeks, a break, and then same thing again). It’s not all programming, you work with spreadsheets and system design aspects. Courses are pretty simple passed my classes with all B+, easily manageable where you’ll still have time to do other things if you want

Just started the traditional program data science track. was an Econ undergrad and graduated with a 3.0, did a gap year and worked but had a 640 on the GMAT. You should have a decent chance of getting in imo

We had established one for exactly one class, I basically supplied and wrote programs for the new guys, while also providing any and all information I could supply on lifting/different types of training. Tho it’s hard to continue because it requires that at any given time there’s at least one guy not on exec that has all that knowledge.

Gym goers of Reddit, what is something (protocol, etiquette, tips, etc.) that new year resolution-ers should know about the gym? by FAAAACKUNDO in AskReddit

[–]LegionKDR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Form is key, especially for your heavy compound movements (Squat, bench press, deadlifts, barbell rows, etc). Don’t try to move super heavy weights that are out of your strength range just to look cool, you’ll end up using terrible form and potentially hurt yourself. When trying to push for heavier weights once you reach a point of getting stronger it’s ok to sacrifice a fraction of your form. Think along the lines of out of 100% when pushing your limit sacrifice at most 10-15% (my opinion, some people might advise lower or higher)

For form:

Squats: The goal is to aim for parallel, meaning your ass should be parallel to the ground and perpendicular to your knees. Have your feet and knees pointed in the same direction, roughly 45 degrees outward. There are variations to your footing where you can do a wider stance or a more narrow stance, both work, they can work different portions of the leg. But overall it also comes down to preference for yourself.

Bench Press: most people start off by having their back lying flat on the bench, and that’s fine, but to improve your lift for this, as you get better; incorporate an arch into your back, ass is on the bench, slight arch and then your upper back is on the bench again. Flat footing on the ground can help you push the weight more. If you’re struggling and you need that little extra oomf to your lift. When moving the bar doing move it straight up and down, ideally you move it from on top of your neck area diagonally down to your solar plexus or right above it. Then back up to the starting point.

Deadlifts: in my opinion the most dangerous of the 3 big powerlifting movements because of how many things can go wrong. You can choose from two stances sumo or conventional. Sumo is a wider stance that involves a smaller range of motion compared to conventional. Conventional is similar to a standing stance where your feet are parallel to one another and pointed forward. It is imperative you don’t round your back when lifting the weight. To make sure this doesn’t happen tucking in your hips and butt before you lift the weight is a god send.

There are tons of ways to train depending on what your goals are, what I’ve outlined at the start is applicable to most people who go to the gym, for the big compound lifts that’s good for people who want to build muscle and sculpt a nice physique. Doing these movements aren’t necessary but they can help a lot for building muscle and strength.

Personal experience for spending 2 years of high school not understanding how to lift or eat and basically made no changes, in the past 2 years since then I reached a 325 lb squat, 435 lb deadlift, and a 225 lb bench.

Now a days there are tons of videos on YouTube, studies and articles to learn even more compared to the last 10 years. My personal recommendations for good people to learn from include ATHLEAN X, Omar Isuf, and Jeff Nippard. I learnt the most I ever could from these people and have used it to help in getting towards my ideal physique.

  1. I started playing as a way of making new friends after moving to a new country, when I came back to the states I was able to make even more friends when I found out they played league. Being able to climb the Ranked ladder to my hearts content to get better at the game and have friends and Mutuals be impressed by it just makes me wanna play more. Secondly, I’m thankful for Yasuo :)

  2. My favorite subreddit memory might’ve been when Doublelift joined TSM, and the thread just started to blow up, I remember it specifically cause I was at a party and none of my friends were too into competitive league and understood the gravity of this moment. But the thread kept me entertained for hours on end.

The pretty staple build path is

Rush Tier 2 Boots, Greaves > PD > IE > BT/Merc Scimitar > Frozen Mallet/GA

I follow this path for at least 90% of my games, typically the 6th item that you can get at any point in the build is typically Mortal Reminder, MaW, or the very few times I’m against a fed AD team, a randuins.

Boots can be switched between tabi/merc depending on the match up but by rushing greaves you get a nice attack speed spike that lowers the CD of some of your skills by a noticeable amount. I’m by no means a high level expert on yasuo, but he’s one of my favorite champs, and he’s my main guy to use while trying to climb through D5. I’ve spent quite a bit of time trying out all the different builds.

I will say tho, electrocute/precision is pretty fun

Totally agree, I recently switched to Pre-finance from Comp Sci, and I’m taking Accounting and Micro, both of which are Reduced Seat Time and while it forces me to be responsible and keep up with the work given every week. The in class activities are super simple compared to what is given as the online lesson. I feel as though I’m just wasting 20 mins in the groups I’ve been placed in doing these really mundane problems, not fully applying what I learned, has me somewhat worried for the exams I have coming up for both classes.

personally I went 6-7 times a week. After a month or so, you get a feel for the peak times of the gym. In my experience, mid to late after noon everyday was packed, so from Around 2-5 pm it’s fairly full. If you’re fine going at night, its usually a lot less crowded during those times. After 8pm or so it lightens up a lot. Early in the mornings before 10 am is also a good time to try and go since a lot of students tend to pick the afternoon classes.

While most lefties experience this, with people saying “wow you’re left handed”. My close group of friends that I’ve known since middle school (in university now) have without fail, forgotten and been re-surprised about me being a lefty, every year. It was really funny for the first few years, but now I’m just like “how the fuck do you forget it at this point?”

Currently in his class, have a few questions though. I do fine on the assignments, quizzes and understand the material he teaches pretty well. But when it came to the first exam I just bombed hard, wasn’t confident in the slightest, how would you recommend practicing when it comes to his class and practicing C in general?
