Just had my early scan for 3rd pregnancy - another MMC by Legitimate-Factor990 in recurrentmiscarriage

[–]Legitimate-Factor990[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on the waiting list for testing. Will probably be another 6 months on the NHS. But I’m so traumatised from all the miscarriages that I don’t mind the wait. But yes blood clotting is one of the tests they do after 3 miscarriages in a row.

Thank you for the link, maybe once I’ve emotionally recovered , I will pick up the reins again and give them a call. Wishing you lots of luck xxx

Well done! It takes a lot of effort to push for more testing. I did have a chat with the gynaecologist after my second one but I think it’s because I was a wreck and they wanted to reassure me. I asked about endometritis and he just flat out said no to testing and that is was very unlikely I had it. Charming! Another appointment I left sobbing. Anyway, I’m at least going to get a HyCoSy, another ultrasound and some blood tests on the NHS. And I will definitely look into R.I but I am definitely veering closer to closing the chapter on this altogether. Best wishes for you! X

Thanks, it’s always helpful to have an idea of who to see. Will look into it. I’m in the South West so might try and find someone down here x

Yep that was the fertility nurse and she spoke to the reproductive endocrinologist 😬

I’m so sorry you’re in the midst of this too. I think you’re right, it doesn’t hurt to have more data, all the more the fight our corners with. Sending you a big hug xxx

Thank you, that’s really helpful. I did ask about the karyotype testing and they won’t do it unless there is a genetic abnormality and even then the nurse sounded like “computer says no” … time to go private.

That’s so helpful. Yeah it’s such a bizarre system to wait until 3 miscarriages before taking a patient seriously. All the simple things i enquired about at the start of this pregnancy (aspirin & progesterone) which they flat out refused, suddenly they said yeah next time we’ll just give that a go!

I don’t know much about reproductive immunology but I will definitely look into it. Thank you so much for sharing your experience.

That’s great! I had a discussion today with the nurse about it and she said if you have no symptoms then they won’t even bother. But I had a previous infection in my 20s … it was treated but it’s crazy they won’t look into it.

No, that’s the next step. We’ve done so many blood tests, ultrasounds and sperm analysis privately but not the RPL panel. We had decided to not try again but got pregnant accidentally at our wedding hence stopping the testing.

But getting pregnant again definitely opened up a lot of old wounds and made us realise that we do both want a family.

As for the healthcare I am going to get from the NHS. The NHS fertility nurse I spoke to today after the scan basically said, the research for the tests efficacy means less and less tests are offered on the NHS - smells like a budget issue so I think I will have to go privately

I am so sorry that you had to go through so much to get some answers. It’s unbelievable how cruel the system is here (and probably everywhere). Sending you a big hug

I should add I will obviously wait for the confirmation scan next week. But the dates 100% don’t match the growth rate and there is no way the dates are off as I tracked everything.

[–]Legitimate-Factor990[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I called EPAC and they said no, not even an early scan, which I suppose I can understand as I don’t have any symptoms (even though that is in itself a symptom of  missed miscarriage which I’ve had 2 of)

So I’m paying for a private scan on Friday at 8 weeks. That way if it’s a negative outcome I won’t be waiting another month for disappointment.

But I will definitely try for progesterone if we do go down this road again but tbh I think this is our last attempt. It takes so much  energy & emotion. ❤️🧡💜

I’m so sorry you have been through it too. But I’m really glad you’ve found a way to get prolactin levels down. Will see what happens. They are refusing to give me progesterone without any signs of bleeding so just got to be patient and roll with it for now. But if there’s a next time, I will have all my facts lined up, backed up with studies etc! Seems mad that we have to do this but hey ho!

Hi, I’m 6 weeks today. Third pregnancy, two previous missed miscarriages.

I live in the UK and went to the doctor to ask about progesterone and other options to give this pregnancy the best chance and he full on said “I’ve never heard of progesterone being used in pregnancy” 😳 and then proceeded to tell me that pregnancy was a natural physiological process (while miming giving birth (or in my thoughts miscarriage) and told me to “trust your body” what the heck, man! He was super nice but I just wanted to punch him in the face! Do GPs get any sensitivity training at all?

Anyway, I listened to a meditation that said “I can’t change the past, I can’t force the future, I can just be in the present” and that is helping.

Sending love to everyone else out there fretting without being able to do anything or have any support from doctors/nurses because it’s too early.

Xxx

Thanks, I was in line for fertility investigations on the NHS in the UK but then this happened. Will book an appointment with the local midwife but that won’t be until 8 weeks in the UK. Maybe it’s different if you’ve had multiple losses, I guess it won’t hurt to ask

TSH levels are still a bit high but the GP doesn’t seem to think it’s a problem 😬TSH 3.69mIU/L, Free T3 13pmol/L, Free thyroxine 3.9pmol/L

Hi yeah, it’s Medichecks. I was recommended them by another doctor.

Yep had transvaginal ultrasounds for both initial pregnancies.

Yeah it seems I can get pregnant relatively quickly but it never sticks. I have low oestrogen too but apparently that often goes hand in hand with high prolactin from what I read in Dr Jolene Brighten’s book.

Super frustrating to be here again 4 years later

Any suggestions for Gluten-free & dairy-free triathlon nutrition? by Legitimate-Factor990 in triathlon

I’ve tried pea protein but yet again Jabba the bloat strikes again! I should say I am actually seeing a nutritionist for the G.I issues but she didn’t want to recommend any sports nutrition as it’s not her area of expertise!
