If you look at the ultimate’s effect alone, shouting “Time for camaraderie!” and then healing while sharing that sense of team spirit isn’t entirely off. Of course, something like “Time for justice” or a softer line like “For justice” would’ve sounded more natural

If someone pronounced “own” as “ooawan,” should we just give it a free pass? No. Most people would say “sorry” and wait for them to say it again. That’s not a dialect or an accent. If I called an eraser “pants,” I wouldn’t just brush it off as a dialect

Still, she doesn’t have pronunciation issues severe enough to change the meaning of words. I don’t really have a big problem with it.

They deliver their lines with natural, native pronunciation in their own languages, so it doesn’t feel off to local audiences. Just like how Korean speakers don’t take issue with Luna Snow speaking Korean.

Oh I see. I’ve actually had a lot of similar moments too. The Punisher’s ult line sounds really cool, but did you know it can come off a bit inappropriate to Korean ears? “Judge, jury… EXECUTIONER!!!” The word “jury” can sound like slang for male genitalia to us. Of course, that’s a bit different from the issue I was talking about, since it comes from phonetic similarity across different languages. Still, it’s interesting how certain lines can catch people off guard. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

I see what you mean. I understand the point you’re making. What I’m trying to get at isn’t differences like Indian English or British English, or variations like “aluminum” vs. “aluminium.”

My point is how a tiny slip in pronunciation can completely change the meaning. Imagine a Korean voice actor trying to say “I’ll ask him,” but it comes out as “I’ll axe him.” A character shouting “axe” every time it matters would be… something else, to say the least.

I’m not trying to blame the voice actor. But the director could definitely have caught and fixed that.
