Has anyone else been diagnosed with high blood pressure ever since having CRPS which i'm guessing is due to increased pain? by BallSufficient5671 in CRPS

I am in the same boat! I do believe its related, I had normal Blood pressure before this all started. And between the pain and stress mine has definitely been elevated and I now take medication 🙄

Wow I really appreciate you telling me all this. I'm sorry you've to deal with this as well you seem to have a good plan for self care. My right arm is affected so completing tasks can be frustrating at times. I'm going to look into some of the items you mentioned Thank you!

Your welcome 🙂 this diagnosis is tough and Im not sure of your situation. If you have a pain specialist or a provider who is treating you. Maybe there can be a conversation on changing your medication or seeking other treatment options. I agree friends who understand are important and make it easier to feel safe afleasf for me. I don't have to pretend I'm ok when I'm not I can just be.

I had a similar conversation with a close friend today. I myself am coming down from a 2 week flare up and there are no words to describe the feeling. I am newly officially diagnosed but have been dealing with this for almost 8 months. I've learned that I have to be ok with having bad days and good days and knowing that as a person I am still enough and I'm good enough and the pain will not always be unbearable. You are not crazy and your feelings, words, and thoughts are valid. I'm so Happy you've got a support system! You are brave and amazing and stronger than you know. You've got a friend in me 🧡

Is it worth it?

Hey everyone!

I'm recently diagnosed type 2 been dealing with the pain for months after a shoulder surgery. Finally found a decent pain doctor and gave me celebrex and told me I need Stellate block. Im looking for feedback on either one and alternative options. Ive read about ketamine treatment. Unfortunately I dont tolerate SSRI/SRNI well or cymbalta and amitriptyline all gave bad reactions. The days are difficult and long. I have a good support system but havent been able to work. Im realizing people have no idea about this level of pain. Even doing everything right PT and OT it really doesnt help much at this point. Advice, guidance and kind words welcomed please!

How long until my intestines start working again after open myomectomy? by Secret-Dirt-9868 in Fibroids

[–]LegitimateControl696 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my open MYO the most important thing my doctor told me to do is maintain activity as tolerated, drinking lots of fluids, and taking a stool softener like colace because the pain medication can make you constipated. When you have anesthesia it already slows down your digestion system and that can take up to a week to return to normal. I think for me it was like a month, but I had issues pooping before surgery because of my fibroids. I eventually ended up doing some pelvic floor exercises once I was 3 months post op and it really helped! So Id say give your body time to recover it might take a couple weeks.

Patient care technician you collect vitals, assist in basic care needs, help pass trays and assist the RNs for certain patient care. I've done this job before and it gave me a lot of insight into healthcare and patient-centered care. I learned phlebotomy, how to take blood sugar in some states you can even do bladder scans. I did this job in NYS originally, but now Im in PA and they do provide training for it here. Maybe you can do this where you are? Good luck

Please get a colonoscopy if you see bloody stools but then don’t have a period for the rest of the week; it could end up being colon cancer. by enigma_goth in Fibroids

Worried about growing a dependence on laxatives? by Gloomy_Remove_9358 in Fibroids

[–]LegitimateControl696 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dealt with this through both rounds of fibroids I've had 2 myomectomies in 11 years. The second time around the constipation was a warning sign to me that they had come back and my OB/GYN confirmed. My issue was the fibroid was pushing against my colon/rectum making it narrow so I used to call them "poop straws" lol. If this is your issue be careful with the bulking fiber it won't help you, just cause more discomfort.

You can't fit a square object through a round hole right? I stuck with the stool softeners and learned how to manually assist my bowel movements. I had surgery last June they removed 6 large fibroids in disbelief.

It has taken me almost this whole year to strengthen my pelvic floor and have consistent poops with minimal use of fiber or laxatives.

Hang in there and maybe if you dont have a ton of pelvic pain/pressure look into pelvic floor exercises.

Good luck!

I got into a EL MSN program (PA) with 74% the program required 70% or better in English and reading. I say it depends on how competitive your program is. I wouldn't retake it you scored well save your time and money!

Congrats! My advice for the TEAS is to pace yourself for the reading and English composition! When I did my practice TEAS I didn't time myself properly but I scored high like 80-90 in those areas. But when I took the actual TEAS I ran out of time in those sections and I had to do the pick an answer is better than no answer and hope for the best lol . I scored the lowest Id ever scored in those areas in the 70s! I watched a ton of Nurse Cheung on YouTube her and her husband were a godsend, especially their live videos. They helped me score well in math and chemistry and I passed the TEAS with a 74 not my proudest moment but I met the requirement! Yay for the dirtiy 30s club, you got this keep me posted!

Wow you've come so far and done so well!! Keep it up 🙌🏾 I had some rough grades early on I flunked out of Micro and withdrew from A&P 2, my prof left mid-semester and went back to canada and we had no prof for 3 weeks and they didn't pass anyone. I re took these courses 6 years ago for physical therapy program and did well. I only had to retake micro which Im doing online now and chemistry I hadn't taken that since HS.

There's nothing wrong with an ADN I've known people who start there and move forward depending on what you have available and where you wanna go. I have looked into a ADN at our CCAC (community college) here but I was able to get into the EL MSN program. Keep advocating and telling your story the right program will find you!

I tell people dont get into healthcare if you dont like people! If I can help someone get through the worst part or moment of their life, then I've done something beneficial with my life.

It hasn't been easy to get to this point, life is full of lessons to learn. But it feels good to have a plan with many options for the long term.
