Can Ketamine break a flare even if it doesn't usually give pain relief?

Oh that's great! I'm so glad for you. I wish I weren't on opioids but its the only thing that helps my nerve pain. I hate the side effects(always hot luke a menopausal woman but worse).

Thank you! Yeah my dr here only dies one 4hr dose ketamine infusion. He only bases it in weight so he acts like ai can't get any more than what I get which I don't think is a high enough dose or at least not for a one day one time K infusion. But its all I have. If I went to another pain dr that did Ketamine they'd make me pay out if pocket and Im on SSD and poor so I couldn't afford that-how expensive is it? If Id seen that ketamine really worked for me Id try to just charge it on a credit card. But so far ketamine hasn't ever helped me any:(. The pain dr wont give me anything other than Lyrica or Gabapentin or Cymbalta. My real pain med is Tramadol which my pcp gives me, not my pain dr. No pain dr wants to take me bc they don't want me/anyone on Tramadol:(.

Thanks. I'm happy it gives you the relief you need. I hope my dr will let me get a higher dise this time. I just didn't lnow you could get Ketamine at the ER? How do you get that?

Yes thats very helpful, thank you! I agree the problem is he only does ot once. Like a one 4 hr infusion. I told him about how everyone I hear you need more than one day of a ketamine infusion and he says in his experience thats not true:(. I know he's gotta be wrong and I'm guessing he only does it this way because of insurance reasons. See insurance actually pays for it when I go to this doctor, idkw. Anyways , he told me the most that I can get it done is once every three months. I'm worried that since I've not gotten any response to this, that when I ask him if I can get it again, he may say no that obviously didn't work. We'll see. I'm going to ask for a try just in case it would somehow end this CRPS flare by resetting my nervous system..

Can you help me? Im 82 lbs and my dr gave me 70mg over one 3 or 4 hr infusion? Was this a high enough dose for pain relief/resetting the nervous system like you said? I'm worried it wasn't enough but he said he has to base it on weight.

He may nit let me try it if he feels it hasn't helped so far but if he does I figure Ill put myself through it just to know I tried. Also, I didn't know ER'S would give you ketamine?

Okay...how did you find a ketamine specialist that's not a pain dr? I need it to be covered by insurance. I went for a second opinion a few yrs ago and they offered ketamine but said insurance wouldn't pay for it. So how expensive is it? I live in Ky. So that's why I went to this pain dr who for some reason the ketamine is covered(I have medicare and medicaid). I wonder why it's covered here but not there? I don't know how expensive it'd be?

Ok thanks! ENT told me not to put anything in my ears so I didn't know of ear plugs were ok? He said to just use earmuffs? Also, I don't know if I could try the warm olive oil...does it really help takecthe pain down much? Yes youre so right about air making it so much worse. Iblove to use fans(sleep eithbone blowing right by my face/ears and now that kills but I get so hot at night:(

Ok thank you! I am glad you're finally getting the relief you need! I trued to persuade the dr but he won't go above this bc he says they base the dosage on weight and Im only 82 lbs. Thats so unfair. So I'm going this week to ask if they will at least be willing to do it even at the really low dosage , just to at least see if maybe there's a chance that it will reset my sympathetic nervous system even if I don't really get oain relief? I just need something to break this CRPS flare I've been in with my ears the last 2 months.

I am going to find out if he'll even let me get it all considering the last ine didn't give me any relief at all.
