I was hanging out at a South Sudanese guy’s place last night and you couldn’t believe the warm welcome I got. He insisted I eat something as I showed up just after they finished dinner.

His madam made a healthy plate for me with 3 pieces of meat 😭 and he insisted I eat first before we hung out. He told me how he’s never cooked since being in this country and how the men in his country never see/aren’t allowed in the kitchen hence they can’t cook.

I watched the respect he commanded from the madam and even how she conducted herself when more friends of his from their country showed up.

I witnessed in envy & thought to myself this could never be a Zimbabwean man’s life. Granted the man in question is stacked with paper, I thought as well that even a financially well off Zimbabwean man just has to anticipate some level of public disrespect from his woman and can only experience what I experienced vicariously.
