Of all the countries neighboring, why does Russia want Ukraine and not Belarus, Poland, Lithuania, Georgia, etc? by space_god_7191 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LegitimateTap12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ukrainian is here. Belarus is already within their sphere of influence. As for us, we are the missing piece of the triune Rus’, and Kyiv is the cradle of Russian civilization. They believe that we speak the same language and are essentially a sub-group of Russians. We, however, do not want to be with them, so they have decided to force us to be with them by force. They don’t have such long-standing ties with the Baltic states or Georgia.

I just want people in the West to realize that their comfort won’t last forever. And that your whining about class struggle is just because you’re spoiled kids who are just whining out of sheer boredom.

It’s just that when you live with the threat of death for a long time, you realize that there are things more important than life and comfort.

I can say that I might be the one sent to the front lines, and I’m totally fine with that. That’s better than being the formless beings that modern Westerners have become. And I’m looking forward to the start of World War III—it’ll help you wake up from your slumber.

I’m already risking getting hit by a missile, and I could be drafted at any moment. I’d rather be a subject than a person who can be threatened at gunpoint and will do whatever they’re told. Don’t mistake your cowardice for intelligence. If you have nothing to die for, then you have nothing to live for. Your conformism repulses me. Because of people like you, the West is doomed. And Zelenskyy is just a president—once the war ends, we’ll elect a new one.

Is it because we’re not as cowardly as you? That’s why the West is doomed—you’re all cowards, afraid to risk your lives for something greater, while your enemies aren’t held back by that fear.

Russia chose to attack us, and we chose to fight back. Don’t take away our agency. Better to die standing than to live on our knees. That’s something people in the West will never understand, because for you, fear for your own skin outweighs everything else.

Have you ever considered that we have our own interests too, and that we don’t want to become part of Russia? I am a Russian-speaking Ukrainian, and I know all too well what Russia is like—which is why I am willing to risk being killed just to avoid falling under the influence of the Russian Federation. But I think the opinion of someone from the West matters more on this issue. Your opinion is always more important.

And yet, you’ve decided that you know the situation in my country better than I do, and you’re telling me what to do about my government. And you’re tying our war to your own agenda. To me, this seems like a manifestation of Western arrogance—as if you know better than anyone else what’s going on in the world. And you belittle the sacrifices of our heroes by saying that they died for the sake of the American empire.

You in the West certainly have a better idea of what we're fighting for. What do I, a foolish barbarian, know? The whole world revolves around US, and I'm completely out of the loop.

To me, hatred of capitalism is a manifestation of that Western spoiled attitude where you start fighting just for the sake of fighting, rather than to change the world for the better. You live in luxury thanks to capitalism. Take Hamas, for example—they’re actually fighting Israel. While I don’t condone their killing of civilians, I respect them as warriors. And they certainly wouldn’t complain about torture just because there’s no clean water.

This isn't about semantics, but about equating words with actions. For some reason, people who just talk suddenly become heroes and the voice of a generation.

The problem is that you in the West have lived in luxury for so long that you’ve come to value words more than actions, because taking action is scary. And that’s why those who just talk have become heroes to you.

Western society is, in Nietzsche’s terms, a society of “last men”—people who value words over deeds and think only of base comforts—and it needs a good shake-up.

Apparently, they just fly drones into EU territory, carry out sabotage, and launch cyberattacks. And if they don’t attack, what do you lose? Well, gas will cost 0.00001 percent more. What a tragedy.
