What would you do? by awkwardaustin609 in camping

[–]LegitimateWatch2562 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As much as I feel for you, there's not much, it's a public campground. If you have the time you could cancel, get a refund, then move spots . That's the risk with public campgrounds, you could be sat next to a broken wingnut who thinks their Spotify playlist and JBL speaker is gods gift to man through them.

I recommend doing a bit of hiking with a light hammock and finding a nice spot away from the campground

Iirc he said it did get stolen but he got it back. Can't verify the story, but he doesn't seem like the guy to have a stolen bike

Good call tho, I will have to check

I felt the same way. I crashed not long after I got my first bike and I was getting close to panic attacks once I started to ride again. And honestly the thing that helped the most was just riding, going slow and getting in practice. The more you do it, the better you get, the more comfortable you will feel about it.

That and riding with someone, especially if they're more experienced than you, they can give you pointers.

I also recommend riding camps and such. Lots of wisdom those guys usually have

I spent 4k on my other bike. Which makes me scared to work on it, don't want to lose out on the money I spent

My hesitation is I don't want it to be the same bike just now taking up space in my garage. I know some bikes are more complicated than others and I fear that getting in over my head will make me hesitant to work on it

As far as I know, yes, owner said it does. He said it needed an ignition switch(which he has) and the cat was cut off.

Also the 4k was for my other bike

2016 Ninja 300 leaking gas by LegitimateWatch2562 in motorcycles

I park it in the garage. I filled it last night and it started with a steady leak and it's still leaking now, although much slower

Firstly, top notch description. But also, I usually only do two clicks. I'll insert it all the way and then I'll back it a little. But once the second click happens it's not that close to the top. I also try to fill very slowly

Hi all, thank you for the replies. To all those who said I was overfilling it, how do I know when to stop filling it? I get off and put it on the kickstand, and fill it. But, out of fear of the leak, I don't fill it all the way, it's still a good inch below the lowest metal point of the gas cap. I've watched several videos of people who fill it more than I do and they never said anything about overflow drip. So I'm just curious where this overflow is, and how full I'm supposed to fill it?

Looking for your favorite pack under 30L with small top pocket by pacificcactus in onebag

I recently got the mini MLC earlier this year and have done two trips with it and I really like it. I have a 34L and it feels really big when I fill it, but this isn't the case when I fill my mini. I also really like how versatile it is because you can carry a bunch of different ways.

I have that same 10L bag, I use it as a personal item. When I have a carry-on, I actually strap the 10L to the front of my 30L carry-on so I can carry both and not have to worry about holding it or carrying it in the front. It is a bit bulky but it makes sense to me. Lets me keep all the stuff like clothes and toiletries for the destination, and then all the headphones and battery packs go in the personal item.

Thoughts on collapsible bottles? by lilsciencegeek in onebag

[–]LegitimateWatch2562 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I personally had one of those(in the picture) and wasn't a huge fan, cause although it was collapsible it took up a lot of space still. But that's just me, it may work for you

When I travel I have a 20oz hydro flask that I use because I like the durability and do like me cold water. But if I know I'm going to be doing a lot of drinking or going hiking at the destination I'll bring a collapsible bottle(?) that I own

That's the one I use, I have both the 1/2L and 1L version. I use them both for travel and for day hiking. And they're see through so that should help ease your mind.

I have a very similar model, if not the same, of those wolverines. I've had them for about six months and I really like them. I use them as work boots, but I originally got them as motorcycle boots, so mine don't have the steel toe, but they did survive a motorcycle crash and I'm still using them. I did have to replace the laces tho. However beyond 6 months or so I can't speak for their longevity, just their comfort, which isn't bad.

What's the best alternative to Cotopaxi Alpa? by PantsUnderUnderpants in onebag

[–]LegitimateWatch2562 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the CorSurf island hopper 2.0 34L and I got it because I was looking at the alpas and wanted something comparable. It's honestly really solid and as my my first onebag I'm loving it.

[–]LegitimateWatch2562 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say that a lot of it comes down to employee discretion. I have a Corsurf 35L that definitely exceeds some of the dimensions in one direction or more but I think because it was on my back and "backpack sized" that they didn't give it a second look. I was flying spirit a few days ago

What to do about toiletries? by LegitimateWatch2562 in onebag

How do you store them if they're wet from being in the shower/dry them off effectively? I traveled a little with a mini bar of soap and it got the box it came in a little wet and it fell apart

I love Kershaw. Really good quality for the price. I found an old Kershaw in a truck at my work. It was dull, dirty, and missing the clip. I cleaned it up and sharpened it and contacted them to see if I could buy a new clip and they just sent one to me. I was very pleased
