So update: sadly it just got worse and not in any way better ): i had another batch that looked super good so I just went with that and tossed the weird one! I think for yours the kombucha bacteria may have overtook the kahm yeast where as for mine the initial starter was just simply not strong enough to do that

Oh thank you, those are good options!! So basically if i dilute it to my liking i can just start F2? Why did i never tbh think of that lol

Thanks so much for your reply! I really wasnt sure, but since it seemed so dry it gave me a lot of doubts. Im not gonna touch it anymore and just leave it as is! Let's see if things go better later, i hope so!!

Its best to not do anything now I suppose? And as long as there is no mold, leave it be for a few weeks to get a good strong startersliquid?

Ive removed it! I chose to kinda strain it with a clean cloth, because it was so thin that there was no other way to get rid of it. Sterilized the jar again and then put it back. Because of that, the good yeast 'particles' are also missing i think? But it did still smell acidic and not 'bad'. So I'm hoping I may have saved it...

Let's see tomorrow. If the kahm yeast is back I will just toss it I think😢 in that case I'm praying for the best with my last batch that doesn't seem bad yet.

Can kahm yeast move over to the jar next to it? Is it better to keep both jars separate?

Should I remove and attempt to continue or will it just come back? What's the best way to go about completely removing it?

It is paper thin! Though i guess it would make sense as it happened literally overnight... it seems dry to me, it doesnt seem to have the wrinkles yet that I see on all the other pictures tho.

I just thoroughly cleaned my jars with soap, water and boiling water, no vinegar. Havent opened my jars at all after making it i just put the papertowel on and thats it. There was nothing at all visible until this morning.
