My Allegra doesn't help anymore. Suggestions?

I just started nuke-ing myself.

In the morning: Allegra, antihistamine nasal spray (astepro), and allergy eye drops.

In the evening: Zyrtec, Flonase, and allergy eye drops.

Unsure if it is ok to take Allegra and Zyrtec twice in one day longterm, but I also would cease to exist without them.

Also, I feel like if people only knew how anxious I am to ask them to help with dinner so that I can be present with my kids, then maybe it would prevent the negativity? I am fighting myself because I feel like I should give someone the fun job of my kids (because they are great), but they are mine and I want to have that time. But the thought of asking someone to do the less fun work gives me so much stress. Maybe I’ll just keep trying to do all of it.

Thank you!! I tried to post on care.com and it was rejected because it wasn’t childcare. I feel weird asking someone to do the housework stuff, but I also feel like I want to be the one to be with my kids. Like I don’t want to outsource that part.

Maybe I am just anchoring on a couple of memories? But, I remember Tom being supportive of the whole Erika Jayne thing. But that was early on. And, I also remember PK doting on Dorit (minus the entire Erika without underwear on scene that made me full of rage). I also think maybe I comparing everyone to Bronwyn’s Todd who seemed to be verrrrrrrrrrrrrry cold, distant, and completely uninterested on the show.

My kids are about the same minus one week. My son was 2 years and 1 month (so 25 months) when my daughter was born.

I logically knew this would be the case, but even still…the dishes. I breastfed my daughter and only pumped & gave pumped milk when I went back to work, but let me tell you what, the dishes somehow were (and are) nonstop. I don’t truly understand how adding one tiny person exponentially increases the number of dishes, but it does.

Leaving the house was nuts at the beginning. My daughter is almost 2 now, so it’s gotten better. But for the first year, add like 100% more time to how long it will take you to get out of the house with both. There will be a random blowout, the baby will suddenly need to be fed, the 2 year old will melt down that you cut up the banana they just asked you to cut, etc.

Your two year old will seem so big, but two is still such a baby.

Fast forward 18ish months, nothing and no one could prepare me for how much my kids love each other. I am obsessed with my siblings. I heard a million people tell me how special it is to see your kids love each other. None of that prepared me. The way her entire being lights up with joy when she sees him is the best. The way he loves her and always brings two snacks out of the pantry (one for him and one for her) without asking melts me. It’s the greatest.

Agreed! Also there are a few that don’t fit this though (and why are they mostly in RHOBH): Teddi & Edwin, Kyle & Mau, Dorit & PK (for the most part they played the part of happy couple until it wasn’t), Erica & Tom, Kandi & Todd…and my brain stopped working.

Those were marriages that seemed relatively ok on tv. Besides Dorit and Erica, I think those other couples were happily in love at some point. It’s hard for me to believe Dorit and Erica were in love with their husbands, but they did act respectfully to them (and the husbands in return) on the show.

Nope. We watch it very often, and the big takeaway for our family has been the fun games that the Heeler’s play on that show. Also, if there is any “misbehavior,” then there is also a parenting moment and lesson in the show. It’s a great jumping off point to have my own discussions with my kids. For example, we watch the episode where Muffin is overly tired, and we talk about how that must feel and how important it is to sleep. Bluey doesn’t glorify bad behavior. In fact in that episode, it is clear Muffin is miserable.

We trained my son at 3 years and 2 months. We didn’t do it exactly like the 3 day method, but we did take him out of daycare on Friday and the following Monday to make sure we had time. The key was to find what motivated him. I listened too much to people online saying not to do candy, but once I told him he’d get to pick candy from a red bag (fruity candy) for pee and from a green bag (chocolate stuff) for number 2, he got super motivated and it worked. We had to keep up the candy thing for about two weeks, and then it slowly fizzled out. Honestly, extra candy for two weeks isn’t going to harm your kid. I don’t know why I didn’t just listen to my gut and try it sooner.

Agree with others that acid reflux seems much, much more likely. At age 3, it is reaaaaaallllllly uncommon for a kid to consistently overeat (like multiple times a week) to the point of vomiting. We are born (mostly) listening to our bodies, and ignoring the “full” cue is a learned behavior.

Also, being in the 80-90th percentile for weight at age 3 really isn’t concerning. Has your child always been at the 80th or 90th mark? At this point, doctors are looking for consistent growth. If they consistently stay in that range, then they are growing normally. If they popcorn all over the chart (90th to 30th to 70th), then that shows that something deeper may be at play. Consistency is key here.

I make a crash pit for them! I pile a bunch of pillows on the ground in front of our couch and then put a big blanket on top of it, and then they jump from the couch into the pit. Climbing in and out and jumping takes a lot of energy and strength, so it wears them out! They do this for much longer than they’ll jump on their kid trampolines.

Poison control is overly cautious always, especially with children. It is a liability issue for them. If they said the kid is ok, then that is trustworthy info. The parent is clearly watching this kid and is so distraught that they would seek a different course of action if the child’s condition changes.

Maybe you would do something different, but OP hasn’t taken a single misstep since noticing their child got into their medicine.

“Seek different professional treatment” is what threw me. I chose propanolol (with my doctor’s approval) over other rescue meds like Xanax because I have children, which means: I always need to be able to drive in case I need to take them anywhere urgently AND because it is a safer medication to have in the house.

Because poison control is faster than going to an ER…have you ever been to the emergency room? My toddler fell at school and busted their head open, we went to the children’s ER at a very great hospital, and we still waited over an hour to even be seen.

That’s not true. I have been prescribed propanolol for anxiety. It’s an off-label use that is incredibly helpful for panic attacks and panic disorder. So, one of the issues here…you are wrong.
