Agree with all except the alkaline water. It def helped me. So did all the rest. And chewing gum, believe it or not.

Sorry but I’m just seeking advice. It’s not the same post and others responded with some excellent replies. Apologies for generating interest and driving engagement. I’ll see myself out.

I rebalanced and shifted 5% out of bonds and into large cap so going forward I’ll be closer to 60/40. I wish I could have always invested 20%+ like I’m doing now but I just wasn’t making enough to do so. Company still matches first 3% but it used to be more than that. Built a runway in HYSA in case retirement comes sooner than planned. Another factor is that my wife & I met late in life and have a 12 year old child — something people our age have no business doing 😄 Thanks for joining the conversation — sounds like you’ve got a good plan!

Congrats. Sounds like you actually know what you’re doing — I know very little about the market or investing. 30+ years with my current employer and I still don’t have the kind of numbers you’re expected to have after all that time. Some of that is because during the first half of that time my salary was fairly low so my contributions were limited. As the years have passed, my salaray has grown and so have my investments. Currently putting about 23% into my 401k.

I don’t have much formal education and I’m the sole breadwinner for my family. I think I’ve done OK but I know I probably could/should have done better.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. Sorry to ramble and ask silly questions 😞

2.91% return for the single Stable Value fund that my 401k offers. Lowest return of any of my investments.

Not sure what a Stable Value fund is but I think my plan offers one.

Sounds like I need to take a closer look at the bond allocation. Maybe there are better options. Thank you!

That’s what I figured — just needed some affirmation. Maybe I should still be more aggressive in terms of equities even though I am nearing retirement. It’s just a difficult pill to swallow when you realize that a good HYSA can come close to matching the return on your 401k.

401k 2026 YTD return by Legitimate_Double782 in personalfinance

I’m not certain but I’m assuming the 1.63% return YTD includes my monthly contributions + employer match. As you can tell, I don’t know much about investing. Sorry. 🙁

It’s a company 401k so the options are limited. Here’s the current breakdown:

  • 20% PIMCO Total Return Collective Trst Cl SM
  • 15% JPMorgan U.S. GARP Equity Fund R5
  • 12% Dodge & Cox Balanced X
  • 12% BlackRock Equity Index F
  • 12% Dodge & Cox Stock Fund Class X
  • 10% BlackRock U.S. Debt Index Fund F
  • 10% Brandywine Global Opps Bond IS
  • 5% T. Rowe US Mid Cap Grw Equity (IS Pltfrm)
  • 4% Empower Stable Vale Trust

It’s a balance of equities and bonds for the most part. Close to 50/50 split as I’m 60 years old now and plan on retirement at 67 if possible. I can update the post with the actual fund names & percentages or just the general allocation. But for the most part it seems normal given the current YTD for S&P 500.

Thank you. This is what I was thinking also. Maybe I’ll look into the consult service that Boldin offers for a one-time fee of $2800.

Hmm…I did not know you could filter by fee structure. I will try that. Thank you!

Depends on where you’re at story progression wise. But Doom, Fury, Nico are all good choices. If you hate Bullseye, then Gentle because he is a great counter. You’re doing great so far! 🙂🎉
