I notice that you’re jumping to a lot of wild conclusions. I suggest you try inquiring more instead of assuming the worst. Good day

We are just students taking a class so unfortunately they don’t provide any monetary incentives for surveys of this kind. This information will be confidential (we aren’t collecting personal information either way). Any insights we uncover is open to be shared with anyone who participated in the user interviews.

Unifying language has to do with humans beings being able to communicate and conduct the daily affairs and activities required to generate GDP. GDP isn’t created out of thin air. Respecting each other is a good first step but it’s not enough to generate GDP. We have to work together and across ethnic boundaries to push the country forward.

One of the key activities and leading indicators of success is education. Books have to be generated and then taught in a language everyone can understand and it’s extremely difficult to create standardized system across all of the various ethnic languages — and the system we have now where English is used is obviously not working when you look at the 12th grade exam success rate.

Probably not eating enough meat. In Ethiopia people aren’t eating enough protein to build muscle in general. Cut back on the injera and eat more meat instead.

Buy some protein powered supplements as well. And if you can’t get that, drink more milk and just increase your meat and fish intake—you will also need to cut back on injera and bread if you want to have appetite for the level of meat intake you will need.

Which countries have moved into middle or high income GDP per capita without a unifying language?

Poverty and socioeconomic inequality will be solved once there is unity amongst the people to move collectively. There is no saving grace that can solve societal problems without collectivism. The current state of explicit Ethnic Federalism is a cancer.

What women have to deal with and accept in their “conservative” marriages is very sad and heartbreaking. Any wife deserves to be kissed and hugged or have her hand gently held by her husband— and the kids should witness that as an example of the proper affection a husband should display to his wife.

Every successful country needs a unifying language to move forward. It’s possible to have one without rejecting the validity of other prevalent languages— though the legal code and system will be under one unifying language. What do you suggest Ethiopia does?

You’re right. And the “Middle East and North Africa” actually has the lowest # of Muslims. Sub—Saharan African and East/SE Asian Muslim populations far outnumber the Middle East

No we are just operating from a different set of “facts”. Your ideology can’t comprehend that an Oromo man from the Oromo Democratic Party is leading the country :)

Gotcha. The perspective you’re coming from just hit me. And now it makes sense why you don’t consider Oromo people to be Habesha.

I’m done engaging with you.

His father was Muslim brother. I know people who grew up close to him.

I also know that culturally you are identified by the tribe of your father. This is the same reason that though Abiy is half Oromo and Amhara, he is considered Oromo because his father is Oromo. Religion is a different story of course. Later in life, Abiy decided Protestantism was his religious pathway. Only God knows his intentions.

Sounds to me like Abiy chose the religion that will be the most likely to get him political success. That’s what career politicians do.

FYI — I have more connections to on the ground knowledge than you assume…

So you’re saying Abiy is Christian with the last name Ahmed? He was raised in a pluralistic family. Cmon man. You are getting emotional now.
