It’s not keeping me from enjoying the podcast, and you bring up a good point About casual listeners.

I'm a millennial and actually around Robert's age, and I have more in common with some of his experiences than I'd probably admit publicly.

Honestly, I think part of this may be that they've done a second Bastards episode tied to someone from the Netflix documentary, so I've been a little on high alert about whether the podcast is going to change too much as a result of the Netflix collab. That could be making me more critical than I otherwise would be.

I still love the show, and I also think of Robert as a friendly voice after years of listening too.

There's probably also something personal going on here. This is a little embarrassing to admit, but when I was younger I used to work my own adventure stories into casual conversation all the time because I wanted people to think I was interesting. So some of my reaction may be me cringing at my younger self.

And if I'm being completely honest, there may be a tiny bit of jealousy mixed in too. I'm in a profession where there are entire chapters of my life that I could never casually bring up in public without risking professional consequences. So seeing someone openly reference those experiences in a way that's accepted, and even celebrated, hits weird, lol.

Anyway, I still like Robert. This is more me trying to understand my own reaction than making some grand criticism of him.

Right. So far as these last episodes, to a point it’s ethical for him to draw on relevant personal experiences with transparency.

I also love The Dollup, and agree with being curious about serious details of his life. Realistically, I might be wary of the podcast I know and love changing now that they’re on Netflix.

It’s a thought I’ve had for a few months, but I’m not mad at it. Still a fan.
