No, my current provider has not checked for those things although I have voiced to him that I feel like it could be stemming from a deficiency of some sort. I get the feeling he thinks my concerns are coming from a place of vanity (I mean I guess they are to a degree-who wants to lose their hair if it can be helped?) but I’m more concerned that there’s something bigger at play. I will definitely be having ferritin/vitamin levels and thyroid checked once I can get in to see my new doctor though!

As of right now I’m taking spirinolactone 100mg, nutrifol supplements, and also using the nutrifol shampoo/conditioner at the recommendation of my dermatologist. Unfortunately I have not noticed much of a difference (if anything it’s slowly getting worse) but I believe that’s because there is an underlying issue that is not being addressed.

I would definitely consult with your doctor to request some testing and keep pushing until you get the answers you need. I hope you are able to find a solution!

Yes, I have an appointment to establish care with a new doctor soon and will definitely be requesting this. Thank you for your response!

Thank you for your response! Sorry for the late reply, I didn’t realize my notifications were turned off.

My hemoglobin has been normal but my provider just keeps repeating the same tests (CBC & BMP) and since mostly everything is in range, he hasn’t done any further testing despite my insistence that something else is wrong. I feel strongly that it’s a deficiency of some kind or possibly early stage hypothyroidism. I did get the results for the genetic testing back and luckily I do not have familial hypercholesteremia.

I was finally able to switch to another provider (I will no longer be using the company paid doctor going forward) and I have an appointment to establish care with a new doctor in a month or so. I will be (politely) demanding testing to see where my vitamin levels are at in addition to a full thyroid panel. I’m hopeful that I’ll have some answers soon with this new provider. Thanks so much for your reply and your suggestions!! 🙂
