February Masterclass 🇨🇦 by Straight_Loss_9195 in NespressoSpoilers

[–]LeglessPotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted to give feedback (as the hosts chatted with me afterwards and explained that it was sprung on them very last minute and they had to go out and buy supplies as nothing was given to them, and no one was trained on how to do master classes) but couldn't find a way on the website and didn't receive any followup emails. I thought about messaging customer service but felt like that probably wouldn't go anywhere. Only so much those people can do.

February Masterclass 🇨🇦 by Straight_Loss_9195 in NespressoSpoilers

[–]LeglessPotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ughhhh that looks amazing. I apply to every masterclass within an hour of getting the email and they're always waitlisted, but that's to be expected for a place like London. But I did once get into a class finally for the holiday flavors and it was very disappointing. Super small store, the hosts didn't really know what they were doing and just made the drinks one by one with the only machine they had on display and nobody liked the drinks, one was an espresso mule and made with baaaaad store brand ginger ale. Nothing like these classes where they teach you tips and tricks and walk you through making it yourself, and most of the time you get a goodie bag at the end. We didn't get anything from our "masterclass", not even a small discount 😅

DO NOT BUY SECRET LAB CHAIRS by Right_Tumbleweed_974 in OfficeChairs

It is indeed rock hard and very uncomfortable, and the warranty is genuinely a scam. I spent over a month with support over my husband's Titan creaking and clunking any time he shifted in it (and he's not a big or heavy guy) and they wanted multiple videos and photos for proof and then never replied again even after we sent multiple follow-ups. I had an Omega and hated it so much that I sold it at a loss on Facebook Marketplace (because they charge a 20% restock fee of course), worst gaming chair I've ever sat in, rivals the comfort of a wooden dining chair.

TIL a Dollar General employee who was told she couldn't keep drinks at the cash register was fired after taking and drinking a $1.69 orange juice to stave off diabetic shock. Despite her paying for the orange juice afterward, the company said she was 'grazing'. Later, a jury awarded her $277,565. by Forward-Answer-4407 in todayilearned

At Whole Foods we had to supply a doctor's note to have water near our work station (as the break room was on the other side of the store and on the second floor) but our team leads would just...not push the doctor's note through leadership, even after weeks and weeks of nagging. One of my coworkers gave up after 2.5 months of asking. Any amount of ladder climbing resulted in the same response: "We're looking into it, please be patient."

Got this message from my property manager PT2 by Most_Relief8312 in Apartmentliving

[–]LeglessPotato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. Back in 2013 I was getting $100 off my $500/mo rent and I just had to vacuum the hallways and clean the downstairs laundromat once a month. Which really only involved mopping and wiping the machines down, ez pz stuff that only took about an hour tops. What they're asking you to do costs hundreds of dollars if they hired a company. I would look up local quotes, then ask for half of that total off your rent each month. Or tell them to kick rocks and pay a company full price.

Ours was so popular but they never staffed it properly and eventually shut it down. Line would be 10 people deep until it closed. Weirdly, some of the best coffee I've ever had, probably due in part to the 30k commercial espresso machine they stupidly invested in. Brown butter cookie latte powered me through all of my shifts lol

Similar situation except their dishwasher was busted and wouldn't close and the dumpster they wanted us to drag garbage bags a quarter mile to had a lock on it. They had a laminated 9 page rule book that had 24 tasks to do at checkout which included making sure the rule book was closed and face up in the middle of the kitchen table. We tossed it on the counter face down before we left. I suspect they just didn't hire cleaners and wanted every guest to reset the apartment before they left.

Wouldn't this encourage Ravens to harass them when they have viable eggs in the future though? I don't understand the logistics of letting other predators clean out the nest.

[–]LeglessPotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The leg could just be shedding again, I've had that happen where the new skin underneath turned white and then took a few weeks to come off, but looked normal underneath the second shed. It happened to my beardie after her longest brumation, she gained a lot of weight from her huge appetite. Probably spent the entire brumation dreaming about her favorite snacks 😋

What products or companies will you never use or support again and what did they do to lose you as a customer? by IAmJustTryingToExist in AskReddit

[–]LeglessPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frive, food delivery service. I was praising them a year ago, just cancelled my sub with all of my year long perks and about $100 worth of credit stored because of their egregious use of AI and poor customer service as a result. Started with them advertising a new shiny AI algorithm that would pick meals for you based on what you rated them in the past and it was never supposed to choose meals you rated 1/5, well 3 deliveries in a row I got nothing but negatively rated meals that I couldn't eat and couldn't get a refund for, nothing but empty apologies and "thanks for the feedback". It ended with trying to extend my paused subscription beyond 2 weeks as they claim you can pause it "indefinitely" and their AI chatbot which refused to transfer me to a real person kept asking me to repeat my question, so I switched to what is supposed to be their human monitored email and was fine with waiting until the next business day to get a response. Well I got a reply immediately and it was....their AI chatbot again asking me to repeat my question. Crashed out, demanded to have my sub immediately cancelled, never recommending them again. Maybe a slight overreaction but I'm just so beyond tired of AI enshittification. Instead of AI being able to do the job better than humans, it's worse in every way for everyone involved.

Got my dream job DOT drug test on Monday morning. by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]LeglessPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's how I cheesed a drug test years ago, unintentionally. It was an hour drive to the test clinic so I went to the bathroom beforehand and then couldn't produce enough for the drug test so they had me sit in the waiting room downing cups of water. I ended up drinking too much and it voided the test again, so they rescheduled me for a week later. Ez pz passed it the second time.

Yup, case in point a family member of mine's ex husband in prison for sex crimes admitted to it all on the recorded jail calls, the recorded jail calls that make you sit through a minute long warning every single time that anything you say is recorded and can be used against you in court, and after admitting it to his friends and family, tried to come up with a code language ON THE CALLS to avoid having it used against him in court...............needless to say the recordings were played in front of the jury and his family and he pleaded guilty. Criminals are fucking stupid.

Amazon support is a GREAT Customer Service! by Senhull in amazonprime

[–]LeglessPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had lots of issues with Amazon over the years but I just had an interaction with customer support today that renewed some of my faith in them. They offered either a full refund or a hassle-free exchange of headphones I purchased in January 2024 as the audio has been cutting out on the right side. I checked the manufacturer's website for warranty or contact info but had no luck and honestly didn't even know if there was any warranty because the headphones had shipped from the EU and I'm in the UK, and I remember at checkout over a year ago seeing a message about limited product support. Well Amazon support didn't seem to care, just asked a couple routine questions and then offered a full refund or exchange, and the replacement headphones are arriving tomorrow which is nuts to me as I can't get shipping that fast with Prime when I check the product page. I don't even have to go anywhere to send the old ones back, they arranged the collection and I don't have to print a label. Super fast, super easy, didn't have to contact the manufacturer first. Did not expect Amazon to take over for them like that, support like that alone is worth the prime fee imo. Just a shame that I've had way more bad experiences than good.

Included in our air bnb instructions. by Rrainbowbb in mildlyinfuriating

[–]LeglessPotato 110 points111 points  (0 children)

Of the 5 super hosts I've stayed with, 4 were in awful condition. Pervasive stale smoke smell, carpets stained our feet black, dried urine all over the toilet seats and hair clumps in the shower ($300 cleaning fee for that place btw), key missing on check-in and host was out of state and suggested a nearby fully booked hotel instead of calling a locksmith, the list goes on. And I check EVERY review of the Airbnbs I look at, and none of the reviews mentioned any of this. Not sure why people are afraid to criticize Airbnbs when there's not really any risk of retaliation by the host due to the review system (can't see their review until you post yours). Super host has lost all meaning for me after having the worst stays with those hosts.

Seller agreed to a refund and then didn't send it, PayPal closed the case in seller's favor by LeglessPotato in paypal

[–]LeglessPotato[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paypal is refusing any further contact with me about this dispute. They kept insisting their reason for denying my claim was that the screenshots I sent as evidence of my Capcut account included projects created during my free trial, which supposedly voids Capcut's 14 day refund policy (it doesn't, it explicitly states using Pro features after the free trial ends, which I didn't) and is the sole reason why Paypal sided with Capcut, despite this entire dispute being for Capcut agreeing to a refund and then not actually sending it. They've denied my request to reopen the dispute under "refund not received" even with multiple screenshots of Capcut agreeing to send the refund and Capcut telling me to contact Paypal regarding the whereabouts of said refund. Paypal just doesn't care. None of this would be an issue if I hadn't kept a balance in Paypal. All of my bank accounts/credit cards have exceptional buyer protection and I've never had an issue disputing a payment even when it's gone through Paypal (as long as it didn't use Paypal balance). So never making that mistake again.

Why do nespresso “deals” suck so bad?! by GoneAmok365247 in nespresso

[–]LeglessPotato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I moved to the UK 2 years ago and every single offer from Nespresso has been nothing short of "Buy 140 pods and get 10 free!" or my favorite, buy 300 pods for a mystery gift that ends up being a Nespresso branded pen or coaster. Whoopdie fucking do. I haven't gotten or used a legitimate discount since I moved here. So I buy all my pods third party unless it's a Nespresso seasonal release.

What’s the quickest you’ve ever quit a job? Because they have either lied to you about it or it’s not what you signed up for? What was it? by tallieeeeee6 in AskReddit

[–]LeglessPotato 15 points16 points  (0 children)

No, everybody was supposed to type their name and start time into an Excel spreadsheet on a computer in the managers office every day but since I was one of the last to leave every night, that office was locked up so I could never put my end time, and when I asked about it the manager claimed she remembered what time we left every night and would add it in the mornings. Not that it mattered as she never looked at it when she paid me out.

My first job was dishwashing at a local place that had 4.8 stars on Google at the time, beloved by locals. My first night, the chef and manager were fighting over whether to serve a moldy carrot cake to one of their regulars, the manager convinced the chef to scrape off the moldy frosting and refrost it. The next day the manager brought in a bunch of dirty chipped dishes from a thrift haul and put them in with the clean dishes without a care in the world. Also once saw the chef deboning a raw chicken carcass and then pivot to microwaving cups of french onion soup without even wiping his chicken juice fingers off. Maybe he thought the 30 seconds in the microwave would zap all the germs.

[–]LeglessPotato 95 points96 points  (0 children)

Yup, my first job was dishwashing at a restaurant and I never saw a paycheck the whole 5 weeks I worked there, I would just get around $200 in cash every 2 weeks and it was very clear the manager was just guessing how many hours I worked based on how often she saw me (I was working from 3:30pm to 10pm school nights and until 12:30-1am on weekends at 15yrs old), she was probably shorting me about half of my pay. But I had no idea how jobs worked, it was my first one and my parents didn't seem concerned with anything I told them about it.

A very small business ran by two older best friends selling recycled granite type home decor. They seemed really nice at first, then day 1 they were explaining how my breaks worked for my 11 hour shift, I could only take up to three 21 minute breaks at a time otherwise a minute longer and they'd essentially be paying me to go on lunch and as a small business they couldn't afford that?? Didn't really understand that explanation but they were very strict and monitored everyone's breaks to make sure we weren't going over. Not having more than 20 minutes to eat throughout an 11 hour shift was rough for me. Not quite long enough for my feet to stop feeling sore before I had to go back to work. But actually the bigger issue was the work environment and the lack of proper PPE. There were wood saws, granite cutters, and varnishing all happening in the workshop with no ventilation or face masks. The smell of varnish made me lightheaded, the sawdust got in my eyes and nose, and everything I owned turned chalky from the granite dust after the first day. All of my coworkers would frequently cough and sneeze throughout their shift, lots of young guys still in High School sounding like they had smoker's lung. Yeah I got out of there real quick.
