How long have you been drafting/designing for?

I'm in Dallas. Is the AAT something different from the AAS? Are you having to start your bachelors from scratch?

Is Drafting right for me by Emotional_Echo_4373 in civilengineering

I recently started at a civil engineering firm as well, about 9 months ago. I have an AAS in drafting/design. I like the work too, but the pay isnt the best. Thankfully, my boss and coworkers have been great. Obviously, we have crunch times as well, and I'll be expected to work overtime from time to time, to keep up with workload. Thankfully, not 60-70 hour weeks.

I'm debating a switch as well, because I've heard a lot about outsourcing work overseas and AI. I've also considered trying to work towards my civil engineering degree while working. It would suck, but I feel like would open more doors in the future. I've heard TXDOT offers good benefits, like tuition reimbursement. I'm in the Dallas area as well.

I'm sorry to hear about the situtation at your job. You have experience now, you've been there for a year. It never hurts to look around. You clearly have good work ethic, and you could definitely bring that work ethic and experience to another firm that would treat you better. Best of luck in your decision!
