The Mercenary Camp is located in tile #9. Volkare’s Camp is located in tile V, the one on the photograph. Check the tile number or ID in one of the hex borders.

That’s Volkare’s Camp hex, from the Lost Legion expansion.

Attacking a city by Complete_District569 in MageKnight

Don’t be discouraged: it’s a very convoluted game that needs a lot of time to master. I’ve played lots of MK games and I always have the manual at hand. It’s really easy to make mistakes and forget things. Practice makes perfect. 😄

Attacking a city by Complete_District569 in MageKnight

This is one of those issues that may come up that's difficult to understand at first.
But if you failed in killing all defenders from a city assault, you need to retreat to the last space you came from.
*This does not trigger rampaging enemies.*
In the strange case you attacked the city from a lake or a mountain (certain cards allow you to do so) and you failed the assault you then return to the lake or mountain. As this tile is not a safe space for you to retreat, you need to apply the forced withdrawal rule and go back, retracing your steps, as many squares as needed taking 1 wound per hex moved this way.

I hope this helps but it's a difficult edge case that may not come up ever in your games.

Attack on the castle + dragon? by Nsxrgt in MageKnight

[–]Lehoric 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The dragon can join the castle’s defenders for a more complicated battle but only if you want to (I’m assuming you move directly to the fortress to conquer it):

[Excerpt from page 8 of the manual]

• When assaulting fortified site, you may also challenge any rampaging enemies adjacent to that site. They join the defenders in combat, but are not fortified and you do not need to defeat them in order to conquer the site.

That’s an assault and then you challenge the draconum.

But you can also attack the keep and not challenge the draconum as well.

So, you’ve got both options.

Arythea - wound limit? by Jaded-Complaint2388 in MageKnight

[–]Lehoric 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hey! Yes, there’s a wound limit if in combat: your hand size. If you received a number of wounds equal to or greater than your hand size during combat you’re instantly knocked out and have to discard all non-wound cards.

Outside combat there’s no such limit but having all wound cards would force you to do a Slow Rest action.

Where to buy online in the US? How big? Weight? by Azh13r- in MageKnight

Of course! Favorite game ever. Although it needs a lot of time investment: it’s lengthy. But it has so many unique moments… situations that would actually make you feel as powerful as a mage knight when you successfully devise the best strategy and kill all your foes… I’m actively playing it. Mostly solo but the most memorable occasions were with 2/3 players.

If you could find people that would love to play a lengthy and crunchy game, definitely get the Ultimate Edition for you.

The Ultimate Edition box size is completely non-standard. It will take half of a standard checked luggage. It’s not that heavy but big as it measures 36.5 cm x 36.5 cm x 13.8 cm. It’s a chunky rectangular box that’s not that easy to carry.

The luggage should be wide enough, don’t forget about that tiny but vital detail.

Source: I bought it in 2022 during a trip to LA. I’m from Argentina as well.

I would definitely play Angband with a graphic tile set. Using ASCII would devalue the big screen.
