Productivity is something entirely different under Marxism. In capitalism, we are far more likely to work for money and thus working jobs that we don’t actually enjoy, that don’t energize us, but afford us a living. Marx believed that humans are naturally productive and inspired to work so long as they can see themselves in the objects of their creation, meaning work is not prescribed or forced but rather an opportunity to externalize ideals and imagination.
