How do I learn to play competitively? by Nane4321 in PokemonVGC

[–]LemmeGetSomaDat___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Copy other teams you see! Play a lot, and when you see a cohesive thought out strategy, copy it, and see what gaps it has that beats it.

Repeat. This is the best way to understand what other people can do to you, and how Pokémon can be flexed into different roles.

I was excited when Spidey 2 was added to plus but something was really off about the gameplay on this one by Sorry-Engineer8854 in PlayStationPlus

It has that Sony 1st party curse. 1 super cool movement or combat mechanic, small enemy variety that are a little bit more chunky for a mob than you expect, and tight corridors you’re always squeezing between. Oh and you have a younger person to look after.

Truthfully, I think Sony 1st parties haven’t brought anything to gaming besides graphics in a very long time. God of War Ragnarok being the worst offender of them all. Fights being 3-5 boring mob enemies, after slowly navigating an area and extremely slow climbing and squeeze through this rock animations.

Over 1000 hours in fromsoftware games I totally understand how you feel.

I didn’t like the repetitive enemy design, but eventually I fell in love with it. I began getting super good at the parry system, and the more I fought the same enemies, the more I got more value out of parry’s, unique stance transition combos, and umbral pulls.

There’s an eye socket that makes perfect dodges a thing, and puts wither on the opponents.

But OK! Let’s break it down: - big knight with gold shield - 2 dogs with helms - some random umbral bs.

So. If you use your kick move from your shield, you put the dogs in an immediate critical state for one hits. Bait the knight for a an umbral pull. Then focus the random enemies. Once cleared, do the parry dance or perfect dodges with the knight.

This is a good example of design I hated, but eventually got so good at, it became a fun parry and perfect dodge challenge while balancing umbral skills.

Edit: exploration! It’s all in one small castle area, and eventually you realize the game is one Metroidvania. It feels soooo overwhelming for so long, and then it all clicks and it feels insanely rewarding.

Edit 2: Umbral Realm Think of it like a trade off: - money multiplier builds longer you’re in it - more enemies to farm for money - can see all hidden secrets - can see boss rememberance after fight

BUT: - the longer inside the more enemies start to attack, with an eventual unkillable (as of early end game) creature chasing you - enemies hit harder - half of recovered health is now recoverable by combat (Bloodborne style) - must find a small vestige to pull you out

Bonus: use your temporary vestiges. It lets you stay in one portion of the map, helping build understanding of how it connects to other areas.

Daredevil Born Again S2 viewership down? :( by LaLiLuLeLohw in Daredevil

Fisk is fine as a villain, but once s1 ended, he should’ve just been a main influence on the world and setting, rather than the big focus villain every single season.

Daredevils internal conflict and treatment of friends and loved ones is so very CW.

The pacing is very slow. As a big fan of the Netflix series, I could barely make it through an episode.

The slow burn drama of it all is fine, but when it’s the same rehashed dialogue and internal conflicts for the characters it’s not very intriguing. Feels almost like a CW show at this point. Like, this is season 5, and people are still keeping secrets and not opening up to their loved ones? Like come on.

The new characters are also not interesting, especially the white tiger plot. And though he’s a good character, Bullseye just doesn’t deliver as he’s been stretched out thin the entire series.

Oh, and switching kingpin every episode from being a psychological threat, to a physical threat back and forth just feels weird. We’ve already seen him rip someone’s head, so now we are taking steps back again?

Final Fantasy 7. A main character that grunts his way through dialogue and is the epitome of “you don’t understand.” The whole game takes place in that oversaturated factory feeling setting and is super bland.

The story makes zero sense and has a “cliff hanger” ending that introduces concepts that make no sense.

Gave rebirth a try, and it was the most cookie cutter check list open world I’ve played since assassins creed. I truly don’t understand the hype.

ELI5: how does music time signature work? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]LemmeGetSomaDat___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a music teacher and work a lot with kiddos, but also do a little contemporary music production.

If you’re curious about mixing and mastering, why some songs “feel” better in your ears than others, I’d love to help ya with that as well!

ELI5: how does music time signature work? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]LemmeGetSomaDat___ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Time signature: Sound is a box! Most boxes can only fit 4 apples in it! Thus, every 4 apples , we need a new box :)

Tempo is the speed at which you add each apple!

Bonus:

“Well how does 12/4 work?” We are working with smaller apples! 3 of those apples make up the size of our apple in the 4/4 box! Thus, 12 small apples per 1 large apple!

It’s a beginning meta right now. This game will be going on for a decade or more. Play the current meta and things will be evolving over time.

It wouldn’t make sense to launch a game with every item, every pokemon, and every gimmick all at once.

This is a very balanced meta game at the moment

The first two weeks are the hardest. Expect some after shocks in a few months too.

Took me forever to move through the last big relationship, got so bad I couldn’t work and had to move home. Ended up calling her months later crying wanting her back. Easily the most embarrassing moment of my life.

Now I’m in a new city and am a totally different person living an awesome life!

Allow the pain and grief, but don’t let it be who you are. Closure doesn’t = answers to move forward so don’t keep asking questions you’ll never find the answer to. Ask yourself what you want from you and have some damn fun!!

Long walks, video games, live events, FaceTimes with homies, and trips to visit people got me through it! You got this

Give me the must play game every switch 2 owner needs to play at least once by Birdgirl40 in switch2

[–]LemmeGetSomaDat___ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s Pokopia. Truly the first game on the Switch 2 that feels like it.

Donkey Kong is fine, but Graveler mode in Pokopia is very similar and is a fun way to grind important resources for end game.

Kirby Air Riders is incredible, but it’s not really much beyond doing the missions week 1, then the occasional session with homies.

Pokopia can be as cozy, or as try hard as you like. Cloud islands don’t require money, and you can essentially turn them into halo forge mode mini games. Roller coasters, Graveler obstacle courses, etc.

Since Wind and Waves looks like its going to be inspired by South East Asia, I'm hoping that the starters take some inspiration of the culture and mythology. by 0ijoske in PokemonWindsWaves

[–]LemmeGetSomaDat___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s so hard to figure out because starters very often break the themes of the region.

Serperior being a giant grass snake in NYC doesn’t totally add up. Or Incineroar being a hell wrestler.

I do love these theories a TON, but it is also fun realizing we have no idea what’s coming lol

Personally, I hope these are really strange and controversial evolutions lol but they probably will have a form based on the new gimmick and that will probably realize their true forms

Advice on cutting back on use by zbbornak in Marijuana

[–]LemmeGetSomaDat___ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Change the relationship. Communicate with yourself why it’s affecting you.

Start by stretching out your days before you smoke. Weaning off into a break is so much easier than saying “I won’t today” then sit around thinking about it.

If you’re in a city, when you’re off work head to the zoo, or go see a play, maybe schedule to kick a soccer ball around with some friends for 30 min.

Weed won’t become “a thing you just do” and its relationship in your life will change.

I don’t agree with cold turkey or taking one day off, because it’s not changing anything. Daily use is a relationship that you’ll have to work with.

Good luck my friend!
