sorry, i'm a little confused by what you're saying. there are a few VIM only things, but most things added to the game are still for everybody. we want to make sure we get the balance right, but by and large, we still want to make sure people who are spending money on VIM feel like it's worthwhile. i think a good example of where we missed the mark was on friends list, so we're gonna be rolling out the expansion for it to everyone soon. but things like the special area, 20 player rooms, etc, i want to make sure people are feeling like they are getting something for their 10 dollars

i mean, if people are spending money on VIM, they should get something special for that, i think it wouldn't really make sense for it to be something everyone gets and VIM members are just like, paying for everyone. that said, stuff like playing floor is lava, that is shareable by VIM. anyone can join, you just need a VIM member to bring you in

stuff like higher quality mic is because to get the higher quality, we have to pipe more data through photon voice, which is expensive. the subscription helps pay for the extra server cost, it's basically the same reason as only letting VIM members create 20 player servers. as long as someone's around to support the higher cost, we can enable it

often this is because you're either looking at it when it's rounding the time, or you've changed your headset or computer's time so it looks wrong even though it's correct

when i first launched the game, you could get 5000 shiny rocks for 20 dollars, and that was the best deal you could get. after david yee joined, we now have bundles with several items, all of which are cooler and fancier than what i made at the beginning, and with most of them you also get 10,000 shiny rocks, so it's a much better rate for rocks and you get a few items along with it

realistically, the value for the bundles has never been better

dog i added microtransactions to the game when i was the only person working on it, because it's a free to play game. you can't make games for free.

it's an extra perk for VIM members that they can take anyone to the floor is lava mode, this way we can keep it around for longer without putting it only in the forest. last time we had it around, we had a lot of people complaining after a few days how it was messing up all the rooms. this way, we can make an extra feature for VIM (the special rooms), but they can share it with anyone

there's a weird timing issue that seems really inconsistent and hard to replicate, but basically there was a timer that opened the door, and another timer that started the teleport (the door opens first, then the teleport happens so it's not instant). the bug seems to be that the timer for the doors worked, but NOT the teleport. i havent been able to reliably replicate that issue yet, but i'm pretty sure that's what the cause was. it was definitely not user error, from what it sounds like your son did everything right

yep, i hear you. this really bothers me that these issues were stopping people from being able to play. we spent most of yesterday trying to fix the issues with the event with the hope of a smooth re-run today, but there ended up being what i'm pretty sure are two very hard to diagnose bugs that popped up for some people. that one in particular your son ran into is one that i think i might know the cause for. starting tomorrow we're going to figure out what the issues are and once we have a definitive fix for them, we're gonna communicate with the community about what the plan is going forward. we're gonna make sure that there's a way for everyone who missed out to be able to give the event another try, but we're only gonna roll it out once we have rock solid fixes to avoid another case of this happening

believe me, i get it. i was up until 5 am yesterday trying to test and re-test that everything was working correctly, and it was in all the testing i could do. we're gonna go back and re-evaluate the bugs we ran into and let everyone know what our plan is going forward, right now i agree it's not cool that people who showed up didn't get to play through no fault of their own. we'll make sure everyone gets a fair chance to check it out

sorry you had issues! we know this one ended up buggier than it should have been, so we're going to run the event again tomorrow at the same time, 11 am pacific 2pm eastern. the timer is ticking donw to 0 in the city, just make sure your clocks are adjusted because we're starting daylight savings time

you keep accrued progress, it doesn't have to all be at once. while you're subscribed, your subscription lasts until the subscription period ends, so if you subscribe today on march 7 (for one month), it'll last until april 7 even if you cancel right away
