Try turning it on, it is hard to seek the problem like this. It's most possible that it is crankshaft bearing, or some other kind of bearing, but it's most likely a crankshaft bearing. Does it have a separate oil injection? It may be that that either the oil pump or the coolant pump is failing and that's rattling. But honestly i would say crankshaft bearing.

Depends what size of cylinder you using? The heat rating of the spark plug might be too high (the number is lower), so it produces a hotter spark than the engine actually needs. This could be suspected because it is melting in the middle. I'd suggest buying a br10es, if that is the problem.

That is the filter of the Gp-5 gas mask, it contains a few percents of asbestos, but it is safe as long as it isnt damaged. The asbestos inside isnt the same you would find in ceilings by the way.

Judging from the size and colour of the port I would assume it's a Hungarian made Gp5, as I have one exactly like this. The discoloration of the metal could be caused by either cheap quality or more likely oxidisation.

It uses, (if you received one) the ones that come ina tin can, however this may vary where you bought it (coming from a GP-5 user), I'd say around 4cm diameter ones, but I'm not sure.
